Thumbs up OK, Bonzo, I'll give ya one...

I am critical of Led Zep's live performances, but they played one on the radio earlier which I always give props too: "No Quarter" from The Song Remains the Same. J P Jones is such an under rated keyboardist, and on this cut he really shines. I'm a big fan of Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman, and I've always put J P J in the same class as those guys. Plus he plays a helluva bass, too.

I love 73 No Quarters. He is good, but not over the top like later tours, and Page's sound it great.

Little fact for you. He used a new Yahama synth (the GX1) a lot on the In Through The Out Door record - he later sold it to Emerson.

I love J P Js keyboard playing on In Through The Out Door. His synth playing is fooking phenominal, but what really blows me away is his piano playing. His barrelhouse/ country style on "Hot Dog" and "Southbound Suaraz" is awesome. I'm gonna have to fire up that CD tonight!

Carouselambra took a long time to grow on me, but I love it now. I have an outtake version that pushes the bass up and really thickens it up.

I like your appreciation of less known Zep.

I always dug Carouselambra...it might run a wee bit too long w/ all the changes towards the end, but again, J P Js keyboards are stunning. That outtake must be cool. In Through the Out Door always got a lot of crap as not being one of Zep's best, but I liked it since it was new. I remember going to a pizzaria after school and playing "Hot Dog" on the juke box.

Hey UBG, now you can recreate the sounds of In Through The Out Door in your own home:

Up for auction is the HOLY GRAIL of Synthesizers, the mighty YAMAHA GX-1

More JPJ at Bonnaroo. But you have to be able to deal with flac (best lossless compressed file type out there right now). Foobar2000 plays it, among others. And you have to be into using torrents.

Warren Haynes is a badazz player.
