Talking Nice smoke show!

I noticed that the LS1 seemed to be making more pinging noise in this warmer weather so I hooked up a scanner and sure enough there is knock retard showing up when I hear the pinging. So I ran some Seafoam through it yesterday. Good thing there was a little breeze blowing! Clouds of white smoke started to fill the neighborhood. So I took it out for a high rpm drive to try and burn the stuff off. I think I had a mile long smoke trail all the way down my road. There must have been some serious buildup in the engine considering it only has 36K miles on it. I've heard about the LS1's pulling oil through the PCV and I'm wondering if this is what cause the problem. I've used the Seafoam and GM TEC and both seem to do a pretty good job at cleaning up the combustion chambers.

Thinking more about this it reminds me of the time when the iroc blew a head gasket. I was leaving this parking lot and white smoke (burning coolant, so probably steam) was just billowing out the back. I was embarrassed because people were outside and I had to drive past them up this hill. I decided f-it and punched it and I looked in my rearview and they were standing there coughing and waving their arms All you could see was white, it was hilarious. I then shut down a little ways down the road and called a flatbed.

Seaform is good stuff. Really clears the carbon out of the motor. Smells a lot like turpentine (sp) too.

I ran a few cans through the 86 and it was like spy hunter when I went to drive it hard enough to blow it all out. People were stopping in the neighborhood thinking it was a fire.

Get it at any autostore, like advance, napa and so on. Its a red and white can. Then suck it in through a vacuum line and have fun!!

You guys should know that my SS isn't capable of smoking the tires! It has the trailer hitch traction mod and it just hooks and takes off. No smokey burnouts possible with the trailer hitch mod.

You can hook a hose up to the PCV location or use the brake booster vacuum hose. I used the brake booster on my 93 LT1. If you use the PCV hose connection at the throttle body it has a better chance of spreading out evenly to all 8 cylinders.
