RAM Air question

Ok 1st off I don't know alot concerning RAM air so here is my question. I was looking at my hood and I noticed a baffle actually 2 baffles before it goes into my stock lid. I'm thinking in taking out this baffle(s) this weekend. However my question is, Are the baffles there for whipping rain or something? Has anyone taken this baffle out and experince any issues aftwerward? Last thing I want to do is remove it and get water inside past the air filter.
Any advice you can offer is greatly appricated.

for any substantial amount of water to make it into and past the water filter and fill up far enough to get into the engine you would have to pretty much submerge the front of the car.

You did mean air filter right? Anyway I think you did. Thanks for the advice , I'll plan on that project this weekend. Any noticable gains for removing that?

there are a few kits out that open up the ram air ducts. BG was a good one, but hasnt been made in a few years. i bought it a long time ago. good quality stuff. you drill out the original baffles, and put in his supplies ducts so it channels the air directly into your filter. also came with plugs and a gasket to seal the airbox opening so no underhood air can get in. you wont feel a differance, but High Performance Pontiac did a test with it. gained 1-2 tenths and a handful of mph in the quarter. it only works at speed, but every little bit helps. if you can open it up to make it 100% functional, why wouldnt you? just cutting out the stock baffles is alright. not the best, but its better then nothing. as long as you dont spray water directly into the nostrils or ford a stream up to your headlights youll be fine.
