				well, we're off to florida

talked my wife into a week in florida. she needs a vacation, bad. so, her sister lives close to ft lauderdale airport and i got the tickets for $25 each (SCORE!) and her parents want to go, too (of course). so, the four of us are off to the airport in a matter of minutes. wish us well on the flight.
but, the best thing about the trip is the car rental. since i saved so much money on the flights, i decided to splurge on the rental. i've reserved a mustang convertible. most likely it will come with an anemic 6 cylinder instead of an 8... and i dreamed last night i got a hurst rental since they were out of everything else... but we all know that won't happen.

 be back in a week.

I was down there middle of July for a week for business. Brought the family with me since my parents live down there. Very hot, very humid, with the typical afternoon thunderstorms. I know the area you are talking about very well, Jim. My parents live in Boca Raton, just 25+ minutes north of Ft Lauderdale airport.
Enjoy the time away, don't plan much to do - just go with the flow, and don't let the in-laws drive you nuts.

my plan exactly. surprise of surprises, the mustang has a v-8. not a GT, but no slouch getting out in highway traffic, either.
the flight was uneventful (i was three rows away from them, thank the gods for the ability to choose seats in the online check-in). i heard my wife once ask the stewardess (flight attendent?) for a blanket. otherwise, nothing happened. the drive over here was interesting, to say the least. top down, of course.

			Have fun man!
Hertz has a bunch of Mustang GT350-H's in their fleet, I saw a few when I was in Hawaii.

Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach, Florida airports have them |

so far it is a blast. i chose to return the car with a full tank of gas, so i have some gas to use. it's pretty good, mileage-wise, and you can't beat the top down in florida.
we might bop down to key west on sunday. tomorrow it's miami. if that is the case, i might have to put some gas in the tank... but it's all worth it.

one word: AirTran. dunno who owns the company, but some of their prices are downright insane. how about $99 from florida to san jose, costa rica? i gotta tell ya, if i was ready to head down there we would've been there. oh, yeah, and when i say the plane was full, i don't think there was an empty seat on the flight.
