poor ricky williams got STOMPED on............
oh and the field was crap because they just put a new layer of sod on top of the old soggy muddy one, so it was 2 layers of grass............ all that grass and ricky had none for himself

That is awful, you'd think that someone would have slipped on coverage and big play could have been made it was garbage. I needed big Ben to throw a td or 2 for my fantasy team to win, now i'm in the final playoff spot instead of in 3rd place.

the game was a mess. lowest scoring game in monday night football history and the furthest a game has gone before anyone scored in more than 20 years. it was nuts.
they said during the broadcast that the new layer of sod was an attempt to help the field after it had 7 games played on it in 4 days or something like that. a whole bunch of high school games and a college game. with all that rain i don't think they coudl have done anything to help.....maybe get a bunch of shop vacs. lol

Guess those dumbash hicks never heard of a tarp. The field could have been much better then it was. The previous games aren't that big of a deal, there are usually divots and stuff in natural grass and it is just patched up they don't redo the whole field. New sod hasn't had time to grow roots and settle in that was probably a stupid thing to do.

ESPN said they played 4 high school games there friday, college game on saturday. Coupled with bad weather the field was wrecked.

they had the field tarped until it was time to bring the teams out for warm ups. it was also raining during all of the previous games played on the field last week.
according to one of the steelers fan sites from the time warm ups started, to teh teams getting called off the field for "threatening weather" (read as: lightning in the area), to the time that the opening kick off landed, approx .62 inches of rain fell. that was in an hour and 27 mins.
they could have bought every tarp in western pa and come up with the most ingenious weather plan in history, i think the result wouldn't have changed much. mother nature pwns the steelers grounds crew. it happens sometimes.

I just read an article where the company that replaced the sod told them nothing can be done on the field for 3 weeks that constitutes heavy usage because the roots need time to bond the strips of sod together. It was on for all of one day. DUH!!!!
