It has been mentioned by a few members that they would like the voting for the "Pic of the Month" to be chosen by everyone voting on every single picture posted.

Personally I still believe that it is better to have 3 finalists for everyone to vote on, however I started the "Pic of the Month" for everyone to enjoy, so it should only be fair that everyone has their say in how it is ran.

Vote now for your choice on how the "Pic of the Month" will be chosen.

Option #1, will be to run it how it is currently ran. Myself chosing 3 finalists, and everyone voting on their favorite to be the Pic of the Month.

Option #2, will be to have everyone vote for one picture out of all the pictures submitted using a public poll on it so no one can vote for thier own picture.

I'll leave this poll open until the 18th of December, and on the 18th the popular Option will be the new (or current) final voting system for the "Pic of the Month"

why not have a public poll to pick finalists and then a committe type thing to pick the winner out of that.... seems like a fair combination of the two

maybe you, alex and some of the site staff or somthing like that?

A poll to have another poll just seems too repetative. I don't want this to be more complicated than it needs to be.

no, a public poll to get the finalists, and then have judges to judge the finalists

or multiple judges to get to the finalists and then a public poll

i just dont think it should all come down to one persons opinion every month

No matter how it ends up it won't ever come down to just one persons opinion every month.

But I don't think a commitee of judges needs to be compiled to vote for a winner or even finalists when the members should be doing the voting for the winner.

My opinion is it should be for our own fbody pics, not some random pics of fbodys and our own. but lets see what happens

Sorry man, but right now the rules are still going to be that you can put up whatever pic you want, of anyones car whether its an F-body or not, or whether its your car or not.

I think I may have found another possible snag on the poll voting for every picture posted. There is a limit of 10 options per poll, meaning as of now, there will have to be 10 or less pictures we can vote on in a single poll.

Anyone got any suggestions to make this a possibility still to vote on everyones pic if thats what the majority decides they want?

I am in need of some

here on this dilemma. Otherwise this whole thread on how we want to vote might be pointless and there will be no choice but to go back to the way it has been.

exactly, we have a couple pro-photographers here, and some hobbiests with great eyes that can get a group of finalists that not only have a pic of a cool car, but a pic that is properly taken and whatnot, once they have the finalists, a public poll can be used for everyones favorite pic

Having a group of judges will be just slightly less biased than one person picking the top finalists. And even then there's going to have to be some kind of structure of the judges. Who would get to be a judge? They all would have to meet every single month and jointly decide on the top 3. This may seem easy, but it can become difficult.

I personally still think one person should decide on the top 3. It can be me, a moderator, or anyone who is dedicated to running the show, and being totally un-biased and looking only at which 3 pics are the best. Now, I am open to the possibility of having EVERYONE vote on all the pics if thats what the majority wants (and thats why this particular thread was started), but we still have the delimma of being limited to 10 options per poll.

The only possible solution I can think of is have multiple threads with multiple polls. But then people would be able to vote on different polls, and it wouldn't be totally equal like it would be if we could fit all pictures onto one giant poll.

Tru2Chevy; you got any ideas? Any chance you could change the poll system in the forum to have unlimited poll numbers?

Another possibility; I (or a moderator) could select the top 10, and then everyone vote out of the top 10 who they like the most for the winner.

Yea Ben, I know there is a "hack" for vBulletin which allows you to have more than 10 choices, just haven't found it yet. I am hoping that it will be installed soon though.

Well, at this point we will see what the poll results are at the top of this thread. And if people want to vote on every picture posted and have their votes made public, then perhaps we will have to wait till you are able to find the "hack" and continue to do it the way we are currently until then.

One more possible issue that may come up with everyone voting on every single picture is that there is a much greater chance for a multiple tie. I'm sure we could figure out something to have a tie breaker like another poll, but it is one more possible issue to consider dealing with by going with this route.

Why not just go with the first 10 submitted and let people vote on them. Keeps it somewhat simple.

Yeah but its not really fair to those of us that have jobs and don't have the ability to jump on and post pics up as quickly as others.

I am open to suggestions on this for now since its new. I am already open to the "everyone can vote on all the pictures submitted" idea if thats what the popular vote calls for. (Even if I still think it has its flaws, and other issues we'll have to deal with) Some ideas I just can't see working out, so as long as I am running the show, it is my final say. However I created this for everyone to enjoy, so I would like to think I am being fair on how it is ran.

the first 10 idea is a good one, its not like we're gonna get swamped by submissions before 6pm on the first day the thread is opened. as we've seen already, it takes a few days to get a few submissions as it is. then if someone misses the first 10, they can enter it in the next months.

if it comes down to a panel, ill volunteer myself as one of them if needed. if other people would rather do it thats fine by me too. im a professional photographer, but my predicted spare time is limited at best.

I still believe it would not be fair to those that don't have the availability that others do to make the 1st ten. Also, theres always the possibility the 1st ten pics are not NEARLY as good as say the next ten submitted after them. I would rather have ten chosen out of all of them, than limit the 1st ten submitted as the ONLY ones to vote for.

As of now, we will still wait for this poll to close and see what the majority want. If they want to choose from all of them, we will wait for the "hack" to be made so that is a possibility. Until then, I will choose ten for everyone to vote on.

Ok, call it the first "quality" or "serious" 10 to choose from. Some people may submit poor quality pictures(like mine) and some people may joke around and submit pictures they aren't serious about. You could spend all month trying to figure out which pictures to vote on. You want to make it as easy as possible or people won't participate.

Well look at it this way. What would be the best possible outcome of the two; Choosing the first best ten I see? Or Choosing the best ten out of all the submissions? The more I have (or we have) to pick from, the better the outcome will most likely be.

I totally agree that simple is good here. If it gets too complex, or too many people need to come together just to choose the finalists for the poll, then it just wouldn't have the same result if everyone voted once, weather it is on ten (or hopefully all after the "hack" has been done) pictures, or 3 pictures.
