a lot of searching and reading for starters. Decision on single or twin. A big budget, headers, intercooler, turbo(s) themselves, piping, tuning, fuel system to support it .. etc.

The power adders section of TGO is full of information from people who asked the same question.

The stock internals of a SBC will not hold up to even moderate boost. 6-7 Lbs of boost is about the most they take before ring lands start breaking, rod ends start streaching.

If you want to add boost and make real power you need to start by rebuilding your engine with parts that can handle it.

Single/duel turbos has to do with boost levels and packaging, you should have plenty of room that you could do one big turbo if you wanted.

I see a lot of turbo kits on ebay for third gens. They have talked about it on thirdgen.org in the power adder section.

I looked into this when I had my old 87 GTA. the only problem is that regular grand national heads dont clear the strut towers on a third gen. you either need a motor out of a TTA or you have to use FWD 3.8 heads to fit the motor in the engine bay. at least, thats what I've been told.

Maybe you could get lucky and find a motor out of a TTA. I'm sure somone tried to fit an Grand National motor in one. Might be a pain and will take some work.

Just put in a call to our good ol buddy LethalRides2k Hahahahahahah........no really if you need someone to design a system for you I'd either to a ton of research on TGO or talk to Josh at JS Performance. I'm sure I could do it for you as well but Josh has a lot more experience on the performance end than I do.

if all else fails mock up and weld together your own kit or look on sites like TGO for people selling custom kits.

I guess you didnt read the thread on turbomustangs.com where the guy took a stock 2 bolt main, 100k mile 350, threw on a TPI setup. Put in a cam and was putting down 5-600 to the wheels on a completely stock engine.
