the passenger-side airbags may pose the risk of neck injury to small women or large children riding in the seat with the safety belt unattached.

I was thinking the same thing when I read it.....w/o the seatbelt if the airbag didnt hurt their neck then they would be going through the windshield.

Ford. Should have known.

On a side note, I wander just how many dealerships are complying with the instructions that they are not allowed to sell any more Mustangs until this is resolved.

I think its really funny how Ford markets their cars and trucks on having superior safety. Those intelligent airbags dont look smart.

Yea, but Ford boasts that their airbags are the smartest ever. Theyre supposed to have seatbelt tension sensors, seat position sensors, and active airbag velocity adjustment based on passenger size and weight, as well as it being able to intelligently process the other sensor data. Its not to smart if it kills its passengers.

“During an air bag deployment, if a small female in the front passenger seat is not wearing the safety belt and has the seat in the full forward position, there may be an increased potential for a neck injury,” according to a summary of the recall order posted on the Nation Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) web site.

The test dummy in the front passenger seat during a NHTSA test of the Mustang was representing a fifth percentile female or a large child. A fifth percentile female is approximately five feet tall and about 108 pounds but also could represent others, including a larger child.

Please make special note that this does not apparently affect any 5 foot male passengers.......
