no need to generalize. that kid in the first video sucks! "wha, the teacher made me stand up like the rest of the class. now I dont look like a bad ass sitting down. I'll storm out of the classroom and slam the door"
I never did understand what was so hard about following directions.

He left the class because the teacher pulled the chair out from under him while he was sitting. While I agree that he should have stood along with his classmates regardless of what he believes purely out of respect, that teacher was going way overboard....

yea, but its his right not to stand if he doesnt want to. The teacher cant make him. Hell, the kid could sue the teacher and the school for violating his civil rights if he wants to.

Yup, he could. And with our legal system, he'd prolly get a few millions for it

yea, screwy, but thats the system. Patriotism is one thing, but forced patriotism is the same as a dictatorship.

I dont have a problem with free thinkers whatsoever, but when you're in class you're supposed to listen to the teacher. some kids just seem to make things harder for themselves.

I understand that the teacher could have handled it differently, but the teacher went overboard because the kids weren't listening. kids follow direction = no outbursts from the teacher.

yea, following directions is expected of students, but the Supreme Court ruled that students dont have to stand for the pledge of allegiance. So, the TEACHER was the one acting out, not the student.

I agree that the teacher was out of line. that said, I'm out of this conversation.
