Well... solid.. hmm... the rust was eating its way at the frame on the inside, there are no floors in it at present and a lot of the car has patchy spots of surface rust with signs of bondo around the back quarter panels, the fenders are looking iffy around the wheel wells. Once I get more of the the car pulled apart I will have a better idea of what I am dealing with but at present... its nothing really I didn't already expect.

I am just happy to be making progress on getting it torn apart and eventually ready for a nice blasting.
Once that happens I shall take her down to my body man and let him assess the problems and see where I am going to go from there.

Oh man, Chris I inflated the 2 flat tires and they hold air. I was amazed! Also, after cutting off the exhaust system so its not dragging around.... shoot that thing rolls around by itself now haha.

JW:

There are places that will "hot tank" the hulk of your car in a vat of acid. It's a 3 stage process I think- acid, neutralizer, and final wash. When you get the car back all of the rust, bondo, and crap will be cooked off.

The downsides are:

1.) If you have a real rust bucket (like mine was) you will not be able to do it since the car will (for all intents and purposes) disintegrate in the dip.

2.) EVERY little rust spot will be eaten away so you may end up with a lot of pinholes that need to be fixed.

Aside from that, I'd do it if you can.

Wow very interesting! I am assuming it cooks all the paint off also?

Do you have a company you know of that does it? Cost Estimate? Locals?

I was just looking at Soda Blasting but hmm... this is an interesting new idea!

Thanks!
