Thumbs up Talk about MIS-management...

At my job with NJ Transit in Morrisville, Pennsyltucky we have a brand new wheel truing machine worth millions of bux, in a brand new building worth who knows how much. And we have my partner and myself, who both know how to operate the machine. But here's the problem...the idiots in control aren't bringing us any work. So, day after day the machine sits idle, and we sit around with nothing to do. And now management is bitching about us sitting around...WTF???? We aren't responsible for setting up the work, just doing the work! Last night one of my foremen [who is a friend of mine], got his azz chewed out because we were sitting around. But he doesnt take any chit, so he made the point about WTF are we supposed to do if there isn't any work? So, now they want us to do other jobs, which I don't feel like doing, because the job I bid was to machine wheels, which I have been doing for the last 15 years or so. I just hope they do away with the jobs all together, and I'll just go back to the shop in Kearny. I like working in the Pennsyltucky shop, but I don't need the drama and hassles!

Keep an eye and both ears open to the state of the company and whether they're actually able to close any business that requires your skills / tools. Better to find out they aren't doing any business, and leave under your own power, than to find out you've been laid off and are out of work for a few weeks trying to find another job.

Good luck man!

I hated working for CVS when they used to chew us out for doing the same.. we'd bust our humps to finish what had to be done and then they'd just pile on the work.
It led to us not giving a **** so we took our time doing everything making each task drag on because there was no benefit either way.

Where I'm working this summer is the complete opposite, I'm in a warehouse and spend most of my time in the shipping dept. and when there's no orders to fill they understand there's nothing for us to do but sit around. When work needs to get done it is done right and promptly.

Usually there is drama when people have nothing to do but sometimes someone has to scream at somebody else so it isn't their head on the chopping block. It blows but it's what goes down.

grab a pallet jack and two pallets. Put them on opposite sides of the area. Move one pallet to one side, then the other pallet to the other side. Repeat ...

Oh, if they do away with the job I'm on, I won't be out of work. I will just have to bump another position, which would prolly mean I go back to the Kearny shop. Transit doesn't lay off...and if they did I'm high on the totem pole. I'm 75th on my roster, have 20 years, and am a union guy.

Heh, there are like zero resources at this dayum shop. They made a big deal when they put in a friggin' bench grinder and vice. About all I've been able to do is paint some head light covers I made at the old shop, and epoxied some braces to the carbon fiber front spoiler I made at the old shop. Dayum, maybe I am better off at the old shop...
