i don't know the answer to the question but it has happened to me before. i have a rip on my tints so i always just tell them i've been trying to take it off and i'll get to it ASAP (which really isn't far from teh truth since i intend on taking it off soon)

Justin, if a cop asked me to roll down the windows I would not refuse. If you refuse then the Officer can take it two ways. One say ok he wont roll the windows up and leave it alone. Two say ok he wont roll the windows up let me try and find other violations that I can site you for. Personally I think it would be better to just cooperate with the Officer. From what i have learned so far not arguing with an Officer can only help you out.

yeah just make his job easier and roll them up for you...garunteed they get people like that everyday rolling down their windows driving past, they know the deal...trust me...

i would consider taking that tint off if i were you, cops really hate it and it creeps other people out too. i once rolled up to benz at a red light with like 2% limo tint all around, he could have been pointing a .50 caliber deagle at my face and i wouldnt have known...just my $.02

Looking at the car in your avatar your tint is way too dark. There's a specific limit to how much tint can be on the windows. I would remove that tint and go with a lighter/safer shade. My old 96 SS had dark tint in the rear window and I almost ran over a neighbor walking by as I started to back down the driveway. Extremely dark tint really is dangerous and yes, they will pull you over for it constantly.

Can't have tint on the front windows period in NJ, so if you have it regardless your breaking the law.

First thing I always do if I'm pulled over is roll both windows down. I'll take a tint or no front plate ticket any day over any other infraction that can cost big bucks. I've gotten out of many speeding tickets & inspection sticker tickets for having a clean record & taking a no front plate or tint ticket which is only $58.

almost three years with 5% tint all around and I haven't been stopped once *knocks on wood*

As for freaking other people out.. why do you think I have it =p You should see people instantly turn around nervously at lights

yeah tints funny. i make faces at people. you can paint your back windows black but the front windows have to be clear and the windshield strip can't exceed the dash mark. unless you have a permit.
