They couldn't get AFM to work with the stick. That's why there is no G8 GT stick.

No, the stick gets better milage, hence it doesnt need any milage adder like AFM.
Auto gets L99 with AFM only. So auto means you take a 22hp drop

Ok, its heavy, but lighter then Challenger. And for about 30k, the SS Camaro will offer more power for 10k less then SRT8.
SS compared to RT, the SS 6spd manual will have 50 more hp.
Compared to the Mustang...wait...dont even bother.

I don't know about worse, stick cars usually have taller overdrive. It may be a wash.

How does the AFM work? And why does it rob power?

The Mustang is actual a pretty damn nice car, and coming in 500 pounds lighter and a great handling car, it wont be as 'in the back' as it may seem, especially considering the GT is going to be between 6 and 10k cheaper than the SS. For just a little more than the SRT8 you can get a supercharged 435hp Roush 427R.

yea that was pretty cool. Hopefully they'll let you change the color with a button like Ford's ambient lighting option. I also hope there is some sort of dimmer switch because that could get distracting and annoying if driving a lot at night.

AFM's cam is a little different. What happens is, under light load, oil that is sent to each lifter via passages in the block are turned off, colapsing the intake and exhaust lifter of 4 of the cylinders.
But what is needed is exhaust rerouting to keep the exhaust resonance the same and so the driver doesnt know.

Mustang is a good car, but the Challenger and Camaro will outclass it. The GT 6k less then the SS? That would make the GT start at 24k?
Ford lists it down as 26.5k for a base GT. Start adding options, and 30k is right there.
For more then 41k for an SRT8, you could probably pick up a Camaro Z28 come next year, making well north of 500hp. And perhaps magnetic ride control.

There will be 4 customizable interior colors, so thoes inserts in the door as well as on the dash will be options.
And if its like the CTS, or any other car, its a very very low light, and even at night wont do much other then supply a very low light to the interior. Boon brought down an S550, and they have this lighting.
A few new CTS's i have been in have it tied in with the dimmer switch as well.

The Mustang GT comes in two versions; the deluxe and premium. At the dealership we ordered a bare bones deluxe GT stick and the window sticker was like 24,300. All the premium is is leather interior and the ability to order more options, as some aren't available in the deluxe. The only major downside to the Mustang is that the factory bottom end in the 4.6 will only hold up to about 470hp safely, which is why Roush wont go over 435hp, and Saleen wont go over 465hp. In the Saleen S302 cars and the S281-E cars, they're all Saleen built motors, and the Shelby GT500 uses the DOHC engine similar to the '03 - '04 Cobra motors. I'm sure the new Camaro motor will be built a bit stronger.

The ambient lighting is a really cool option, my brother has it in his Mustang. Theres no dimmer though, so if it gets annoying you just turn it off. Whats cool about it is you can change the gauges color too to match the ambient lighting.

Speaking of fluied, do they give out dry weight of the car or wet weight?
The weights listed for the Camaro are Curb Weight, which is the weight with all standard equipment, full tank of gas, oil, coolant, PS fluid, etc.

Yes, AFM is only available on the auto. The M6 gets the LS3 with no AFM, the A6 gets the L99 with AFM.

The manual version has a better OD ratio, and makes slightly more power at the crank.

So the stick and auto get different motors too? Are they slightly different or totally?

v6 - 11.3 to 1 compression.... spins to 7,000 rpm and runs on 87???

that would make me nervous

mb has a new v6 engine - 11.7 to 1 and runs on 91

Direct Injection FTW.
Direct Injection allows for higher compression ratio because the injection of the fuel right into the chamber acts as a cooling jet to help eliminate detonation.
CTS's has this same thing.
Imagine if they cranked it up to 12:1 and made it run on 91...there is another 30hp.
Im actually surprised MB does not have a direct injected engine yet?

I thought LED lights were a little on the ricerish side, but I'm sure I won't have to worry about them.

LED's play a big part in the lighting of your dream CTS. LED's are a big part of luxury cars, and will start to become a major part in headlighting.

Don't really care if they are in the headlights or not, I was saying about the inside of the car. I wasn't a fan of it. By no means they would discourage me from buying any car, especially the CTS, I would just prefer not to have them/turn them off. Maybe they look different in person. And I wasn't aware that CTS had them inside.

CTS has a similar system to the Camaro, it has LED ambiant lighting in the now standard Caddy soft blue.
Its very very nice. Plus everything is lit up with LED's.
Light tubes in the headlights and tail lights are hot. CTS sure is one of the hottest cars out of GM in a long time.

CTS coupe should be out next year as well. Concept was shown this past year, preproduction mules have been driving around test tracks for a while.

Production car will get the door handle-less doors, and center exit exhaust.
CTS-V coupe is also rumored.
