Backfiring and bogging
ok so i have a 2000 trans am ws6 ls1 6 speed, i already had a borla cat back on the car, and i just finished installing SLP long tube headers, high flow cats and Y Pipe. the car seems to idle and run smooth. so i took it for a ride to test out the new sound. under normal driving sounds fine and drives fine, so i tried to get on it a little and it back fires and falls on its face and if you keep it going it seems like a miss. i hooked up to my scanner and there is no codes logged.
does the full exhaust require a tune or an after market mass air sensor?
has anyone else experienced this after doing a full exhaust?
thanks in advance!

your MAF sensor can withstand up to around 550-600 hp .

It sounds like it was running fine before the header install, and the problem started afterward.
If this is the case, you probably have a damaged spark plug and/or plug wire. It's fairly common when doing header swaps if you don't replace the plugs after the headers are bolted up, or the plug wires aren't fully seated.

i replaced plugs and wires during swap...figured plugs were nice and easy with nothing in the way...i did however have and 02 sensor code prior to doing the install but the light currently isnt on, could a bad 02 sensor cause this backfiring....also when i turn the a/c on the engine lugs down a little and sounds like it has a miss for a few seconds then it goes away
....also prior to doing the header install my car would pop a little between shifts until it hit about 110 degrees on the gauge then it was fine...is this the same issue and now i just opened it up and made it worse??

well first things first, check to see if any cylinder is misfiring in particular. just pull off a plug boot and see if it affects the idle or not. take it from there.

ok problem solved, i pulled the plugs and found 2 of them were cracked, after doing a search on ls1tech it is quite common that people crack the plugs during header install...and of course my clumsy ass gets to be added to the statistics
thanks for the help guys
