Back in the days of Mercedes vs. the Auto union wars ( before WWII) Mercedes developed a car with a 3.0 litre V12, two stage supercharged engine. It made 490HP and could hit 190MPH , which was pretty fast back in the day. I have some guys io nthe inside who have a W154, and are still ahving the eigine rebuilt as we speak. Its been on the dtno for god knows how long. THey said so far they've spent $50,000 on fuel for it alone. It runs on methenol, and drinks it like water. they said it gets about 1-2 mpg, and buy the fuel by the drum. so far this engine has cost 250,000 to have rebuilt!!! The reason for the extra lengthi n rebuild time is cause one ofth e superchargers were bad, and you cant exatly pick one up at advance auto, and also cause whoever owned it before them tried to convert it to gas, so now they had to redo the carbs n everything. herse some video of one, and I certainly cannot wait to see it run.
