				rear thump

i think i blew sumthin in the rear on the 95Z. under any kind of acceleration other than coasting, when the trans shifts into 2nd theres a massive thump from the rear end.... the harder u accelerate, the harder the thump. guess its goin to the shop tomarrow, gotta break out the 88 for daily driver duty for a while

I had the same symptoms in my old 95 firebird where a constant thumping would come from the rear under acceleration. Sounded like it was coming from right underneath the rear seats when you were inside the car. Turned out that I overloaded the suspension with too many people in the back seats. Do any heavy hauling lately?

I would check the tranny mount too. It's a 2 minute check, just get under the car and push up on the back of the trans. If the mount is busted enough to let the trans whack the floor, you should be able to push the trans up enough to see that the mount is toast.
It may not be it, but if it is, it'll save you the hassle of taking it to the shop.

That happened when ours broke the trans mount. It only happened above 2300 rpm, and only on 1-2 shift.

My 82 T/A blew a trans mount every spring.

I've had the trans mount bolt back out before causing the similar sound.
