If I spent over $20K on drivetrain mods....
....and only got 401HP to the wheels I'd shoot myself
Yes, I know it's only a 4 cylinder going through an AWD system but still.....

Any more power and pump gas won't do. 400 HP is a lot for those cars. A friend has one pushing that much power, its neck snapping when he floors it.
If I had the money, I'd buy it.

The point is that 400 hp isn't worth $20 grand. Even if 400hp is a lot for those cars, why waste your money.

Exactly. 400hp for $20k is a terrible way to spend your money. I'm not even going to be charitible and call it "investing 20 grand" because I don't think it's a real investment if you know you aren't going to get a return.

Nice ricer argument. One can buy a civic hatch do <30k in mods and whoop some vettes ass at the drag strip. I've seen hatches run low 10's. Does that mean the Civic is better? Hey you are saving a ton by buying a honda....

Of course stock. I'm talking about a z06 here too. So take that 75k and spend it on a civic hatch or a 1g awd dsm.... Surely it will be faster in a straight line. I've seen both run low 10's....

If you spent that 75k on a Civic and only got 400hp out of it...thats what we are talking about.

Corvette = 3200lbs
Civic = 2600 if it is completely decked out with every available option
You figure out how they make up the difference.
There are Civics, street legal(plates, insurance, inspection), running low 8's and tempting 7's, just like the Corvette crowd.

Well:
1. I would hope I didn't need that much money to go low 10's in a hatch or a dsm.
2. Personally I wouldn't even spend 20k modding a car, no matter what it was.
3. My response was dedicated to the dude who said he would rather drive his turd gen. I really dislike when people make that stupid ricer analogy. "Duurrr, I can buy a turd gen for 500 bucks and make it 500 horsepower and its the best car in the world"... No not really.
4. Do we know the the Subaru driver was going for all out possible power? and some sweet 1/4 mile times? I doubt it. But if it was his intention than yea, he is pretty dumb. Although it is his money, and he may spend it as he wishes, it is not for me to judge.

judging by the suspension, chassis, and other mods...im gonna say its not for drag racing
and i'd liek to see the powerband also, just cuase it doesnt have a high peak HP doesnt mean its not making some sweet power across the board
edit: also note that the injectors are maxed out so its tuned safely im sure...
