good hooking/handling tires for 16x8's?

almost time to replace 2 of my tires. anyone have any recommendations for a daily driver tire that will see some autocross and some decent launching on the street?

i'd like something that's decent for spring/summer/fall that won't kill me in the rain. was looking into the nitto 555r's(don't make IIR's for 16's) but i'm thinking the sidewalls are too thin for aggressive turning. the firestone wide ovals are supposed to have a decent sidewall for street tires but others say they hook like crap.

what are you guys running?

check out the Kumho Ecsta line of tires...affordable, and fantastic dry/wet grip... i have them (on 16/x8 wheels) and am very satisfied.

kumhos are decent for the price, but if you want a great tire, be prepared to pay

im not sure what you mean by not having much sidewall on the nittos, sidewall height is determined by tire size, not type of tire

do not get BFG gforce sports whatever you do, they came on my mustang and with a stock motor i blow them away through first without even really trying

yeah i've read some mixed reviews on the sumi's as well. people also say sigma's and riken's are decent too but i can't even find those. every tire i find either has 10 reviews saying they're amazing and then 10 reviews saying they're awful or they don't make it for my size.

and the sidewall on most drag radials is thinner so it can crinkle more on the launch. road race tires have thicker/stiffer sidewalls so that they don't fold in hard turns. for example the 555 IIR is the same compound and everything as the 555R it just has a thicker sidewall so it's more suited for road racing.
