I still ask, are you sure it's an 8.5" 10-bolt? They only came in '84-'87 Turbo Regals and '84 Hurst Olds, and '85-'87 442s. If it's the original rear from your Regal, at best it would be a 7.5" rear with 3.08 gears; most likely it's got 2.41s or 2.56s though. If it's not original, then you gotta do some research; find out what it was from, or pull the cover and start counting teeth.

nah its really a 8.5 10 bolt. its a regal limited. the 7.5s were all torque arm set ups, this is a 4 link.

not really sure. I know stock with 1.84/1.50 valves they flow 16xcfm. I'm guessing with the work done to them maybe, just a guess 200cfm. could be less could be more.

Bubba,

It seems to me that you have a ****ed up combo.

Highway gears, medium/big cam, 305 Heads, single plane manifold. Looks like you have some high RPM parts matched with off-idle parts. How did this run in your firebird? Did that have low numeric gears?

thats what the 305 heads look like. I had them completely redone so they would run higher RPM. the T/A never got to see this set up.

the rear gears are getting swapped out soon, thats just a given. I know what I need to do with the rest of the car to work with the motor, right now i'm concerned with draining every last ounce of HP I can get with what I got

False....My brother's G-body has a 7.5" 10 bolt (with 2.41s) with the standard 4 link....

Never seen a G-body with a factory tq. arm setup either.

Is this emissions friendly setup?

If not, maybe drop the LSA down a few degrees.

Bubba, check out this link here - http://www.oldspower.com/vb/showthread.php?t=31398 - it's got pics of what the 7.5" G-body rear looks like compared to the 8.5" G-body rear. You'll notice two triangle-shaped tabs on the 8.5" in the pics in the link.

And Justin is correct, 99.8% of the G-bodies produced had a regular 4-link rear. Only the '87 Buick GNX got something different- they came with a Watts link setup.

GNX was a torque arm car. As far as I know all others were 4 links.

Do you have access to a 750 carb? With such a disparity between the torque and HP, even on a low rev'ing engine, it seems like the engine is running out of air. The larger carb would also help a bit by moving the torque and hp curves up the rpm range a bit.

Where did you get the heads done? See if you can get better flow information from whoever worked on them to help build a better model of the engine.

I had them done at jarhead engines, he doesn't have a flow bench, but the only thing i really had him do was gasket match that open up the chambers for the bigger valves
