If it bothers you just replace the whole bumper.

Search nastyZ. There is some kind of generic 1" side trim you can buy that by all reports looks just like it. The car on the cover of super chevy last summer used it so it must be pretty good.

New bumper dosent come with the black rubber strip, there not reproduced. Ill probably just take the bracket off and just leave it alone. Or I could start gathering parts for a split bumper conversion

I meant look for a used bumper with the strip, but I'm guessing that may be hard to find.

None of the bumper parts are repro'd. Bumpers are relatively easy to find. NOS strips run $200+.

Even more reason to convert to the 70-37 style front end

I am against conversions. Be proud of your one-year car.

Yeah, but as I'm sure you know one year only non-mainstream stuff sucks for parts hunting. On one hand I love the fact that the guy I bought the Nova from threw in all of the NOS one year only badging (in addition to the regular stuff) which is worth a mint. On the other hand, he stopped halfway through an interior conversion and I've got to hunt down rare 68 only crap.

Problem is most people convert the front and not the back because doing the back is real work. And it looks terrible if you don't do both. total weaksauce
Besides, split bumpers are for wanna-bes, like a 69 Camaro RS. Full bumpers FTW, even 70-73.

Now I see the pic. You found out that the OE strip is bolted to the bumper! Sucks. Get that trim & call it a day

Sucks to hear....glad the bumper did it's job.
Did you get a police report? Your fault / his? If his, gonna get the guy's insurance to try and find you an NOS bumper strip to fix it?
