putting in one cat will only cost money and STILL be illegal, the car came with 2, to be legal you need 2. buy a catted y...

ok then he has one, and moves it from the y to the intermediate, now he fails for "altering emissions systems".

if you are going to bother running a cat just to be legal, it NEEDS to be on the y-pipe

From a matter of practicality (as in not the letter of the law), I suspect that a single cat in a generally stock location will suffice for inspection, regardless of OE design.

true but you can get away with it if they are emmisions headers and you have cats...

No catted Y available for LT1 cars asides from Kooks and thats very pricey.

But its very doable to have two cats welded into the ORY.

no, you generalized it. the 3.4's still had a single cat in 95. 3.8's available in conv cars had to meet carb emissions which required dual cat. you covered nothing!!

Damn, I got a 93 LT1 car. Was a single cat. I have the hooker ory pipe and yes a cat would work on the pass side but it is physicaly impossible to put it in the same area of the drivers side as the pass side. The pipe ovals out to clear the fuel lines on the driver side. Next nice day I'm going to see if I can get under the car.

If you mount one cat where the y pipe and i pipe connect, you should be fine.

Yea, thats the plan. If space allows it between the ds beign there and the body mount for the trq arm. I'll have to look at it.

I called and the officer wrote the wrong statute down. Got a new court date and was told he will make it the right one. All is good.
