AN sizing..
7/8 inch wrench fits on the fitting, is that a 14 AN?
If so, where the hell do ya get em, summit doesn't seem to carry em.
I need a bulkhead fitting and either a 90 or straight AN fitting from hose to AN.
Thanks.

The size of the line refers to the Inside diameter (ID). Example -8 line = 8/16ths or 1/2 line.
What size line are you working with? What are you plumbing a fuel supply line? a dry sump tank? Vacuum pump?

If you were closer to Trenton I'd suggest going to Lawrence Engineering, they have a huge selection of fittings in stock. A bit on the expensive side, but you can see it, touch it, build it before buying it. Very convenient.

Blow off line for N20, the braided line has one end, and its a 7/8 wrench size, I want to make the other end more permanent and use a bulkhead fitting, just not sure on the correct size.

outer diameter is 1/2", that would make me think its 8an, so whats retarted? I find that the sizes are correct, -8 would be 8/16, however it seems that its a od measurement, not an id measurement. The hose barely measures 1/2" ID, and the fittings reduce it down even further.

I could be wrong on the ID versus OD. I always thought hose was given in ID and tubing was given in OD because a 3/8 hose should fit over 3/8 tubing. Think fuel line in an old car. When the metal line transitions from hard line to rubber.
Either way, it sounds like you need to be working with -8 stuff for a 1/2 blowdown tube.

i believe thats correct, im just saying that from my experience, the an sizes reefer to the OD of hardlines. -6 is the same as 3/8 od tubing, -8 is 1/2 od tubing, 10 is5/8 od tubing ect.

Its just odd that there is such a large jump from around 4 or 6 AN area to 8AN.

Alright thanks guys, rather than make another thread, is there anything tough to putting fittings on SS braided line?
Doesn't have to be perfect as it is just for the blow off, but I wanna be sure I can do it.

Nope. Get a clean cutoff and use lube on the threads when cranking it down. I use cam breakin lube.

its pretty straight forward, smaller sizes are easy, -4 is a bitch because if you over tighten then just a hair they break . I put together some -20 last summer, and that was a bitch too, i couldnt believe how much effort to took to get one of the fittings together.
Only times i have issues is with, i forget which brand, but the nut that goes on the ss hose doesnt have threads in it, just a lip, and somehow you are supposed to be able to cram the hose in there, and screw the nipple in without everything popping apart. I think its aeroquip? I find that jegs house brand fittings are the ****, and all the hose except the -8 i received is really nice.

I was thinking about this today and wonder is it legal to use a braided line for the blowdown discharge? Everyone seems to offer tubing as the discharge material. Is that for simplicity and cost or does it have something to do with burst pressure or something?
Just wondering

I bought my kit off a guy going low tens with the kit, so I would say that it is legal.

depending ont he AN lines you use, some of its only rated for a couple hundred psi, i would assume the pressure in the discharge is greater than that, so i cant see how it would pass tech

That's exactly what I was thinking. If you are warming the bottle to maintain 900-1200 lbs (guessing on figures, not well spoken with nitrous), some braided line is only good to 600 psi? Some is good to 1500 psi. Does anyone have a definitive answer what would pass tech?

I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to the intricacies of a nitrous system, but I would think that the braided line wouldn't actually see that 900+ psi since one end of the line is open to vent to the exterior of the car, right? Or am I off base here.....
