Help deciding on an Air Lid

Wow, you realize how little you know about a car until you own one and start researching and modding. Anyway, I'm looking to get an air lid as my first mod (gotta let her breathe.) After many hours of reading through multiple forums, I've come up with this so far but I'm still undecided.

Blackwing - best, very rare, expensive
TSP - best aftermarket, not made anymore, non-existent?
SLP - mixed reviews... some cons are doesn't always fit right/seal, rubs hood, clips come loose
MTI - clear becomes yellowed from temperature
Granatelli - thinner material, cracks easily
Fast Toys - ??? haven't found anything about these yet

Comments? Suggestions?

1. Blackwing is expensive and basically a debaffled stocker.
2. Like you said TSP lid is gone
3. SLP fitment does blow
4. the clear lids are only cool if you have a dry shot, on the dyno.
5. I have no idea about Granatelli/whisper lids
6. Fast toys are badass and 85mm, but I heard they hit the hood due to the larger neck

I got an slp, the fit sucked so I sealed everything with weatherstripping, and painted it black/vinyl striped to hide its identity Haha.

Do some more researching ....the general consensus is " a lid is a lid is a lid is a lid...."

For the most part all lids are the same unless your running a bigger than stock MAF, then go with the Fast Toys.

changing the lid is a performance mod, but picking a lid is an appearance mod, like said above, if you have an otherwise stock intake track pick whichever you like best, if you have a larger maf and throttlebody/ intake (larger than ls6) go with the fast toys...

I bought a used lid for $50 off LS1Tech several years ago. I have no idea what brand it is, but it fits great, doesn't rub and works fine. I'd go with a used lid if you can find a decent deal.

beat me to it .. lol

Like said ... a lid ..... is a lid ........ is a lid.

I bought mine for the 01-02, then deleted the AIR. So i had to plug the hole in the lid.

finding one used is your best bet.

You can get a 98-00 lid for your 01 and just get a little valve cover filter for your AIR system or just let it hang out.
