Seat question

Is it in bad taste to run seats with holes for a 5 pt harness, without the harness? Regular black leather seat, no ricey crap.

I will probably never do a cage, and would do a 6-8pt bar when I absolutely have to.

Cage, roll bar... semantics.

Leaves you with options later on, would suck to have to buy new seats later on.

I have a seat like it in my 67. Some purists raise an eyebrow at the thought of putting them in over stock, but they aren't the ones driving the car now are they?

Yeah, mine aren't the stock 68 seats anyway. I want headrests and some lateral support.

Do it - even though you can use those for belts, I've seen them in a lot of cars without the belts and they look great. They're supposed to be very comfy too!

From a looks/comfort standpoint, I think you are fine. From a safety standpoint the pics in the link leave a few questions.

1) Is there a hole in the seat cushion for a the sub belt? Without the sub belt a 5-pt harness is dangerous and might not meet NHRA safety specs.

2) Is the slider shown in the pic a dual locking one? Its not clear and its not called out (that I saw anyway), and again the NHRA wants dual locking sliders.

I'd find answers to those questions first and see if they impact how you intend to use the car in the future.

I was looking at those same seats for my car. If you do get them, I'd like to see them in person if possible.

those seats dont fit in a 4th gen. i bought the tan ones two yrs ago and even if you mount them as low as possible the head rest almost touches the t-tops and my head was out the t-top. and it'll cost you to send them back. i found a set that i have that are nice and low in cost made by bomz racing. and they r a decent fit if you make your own mount. and no its fine without a harness who cares.

edit: didnt realize they're for the nova they might do.

They are arriving today. I'll post up my thoughts. Based on what the Jeg's rep told me, these are a good value seat- now I just need to make sure I fit in them comfortably.

They look good, but I am too big for them. I'm going to test them out tomorrow while I'm watching TV and see if they are comfy for an hour, if not then they are headed back to Jeg's or sold on here.

Do you want/need reclining seat?

As far as the harness, You could just do a Y - 4 point if your not going faster then 11.49. Also if you plan on doing allot of street driving leave the stock belts in. I took mine out and the harness is a PITA on the street.

let meknow if you do get those seats. i've been thinking about that exact set of seats for my 3rd gen, and a few other similar seats. i dont think it looks bad without the harness, but some might. the seats have a nice look to tem . let us know the fit and finish if you do it

I did buy them. They are really nice, but I am too wide for them.
