V clamps
Any one have any luck or opinions on this style of clamp off the headers?

I am really tired of slip fit nonsense, and I plan on redoing the Y soon.

I see big dollar cars using them, usually well supported systems, they might not like a lot of flex/movement. I've seen them more often in back part of systems so you can removed an x-pipe, for example. not cheap, and I'm not sure how difficult they are to install.

Its just like using flanges only instead of bolts you use the clamps.

Since I am not 100% on this, can you weld SS to regular steel? IE, my headers are SS, the clamps are not...

I think it might corrode due to galvanization. I don't weld though.

I agree with you. You can weld dissimilar metals but the welds themselves and the non-stainless steel will probably corrode.

Just coat the welds really good with primer. Should be ok. A friend of mine does it all the time with no problems.

Just coat the welds, you most likely wont see much of the primer with the v bands on anyway

The primer on mine is holding up so far. Its been about 6 months since it was done.
edit: now that I think about it, its hi temp black paint that he used.

Just curious what type of primer he used, since DP40 or even rustoleum would burn off very fast at that location. If I spray something hot it's either with VHT or Bloxide.

You can use Bloxide if you need to. Would probably match pretty well.
