ls1 arp rod bolt's

Hello guy's I have a 98 ls1 motor and have heard that the rod bolt's on this year are horrible and want to replace them with a set of ARP's. What is the best site...price for a set of them i would very much so appreciate an input. Also what bearing should i use the motor is sitting on a engine stand so this is the best time to do the work i plan on spraying the motor with about a 100 shot and figure mine as well put a fresh set of bearing in the bottom end.

Thanks,Steve

Well the motor is used said to only have 50k on it but who knows. The 100 is just to start might go to a 150 when used to it Better safe then sorry you know. And since the motor is sitting on an engine stand with the oil pan off thought it would be a good idea to upgrade.

yes, but it's a 98

my 98 trans am blew up with only 57k miles on it. womp womp

I know of somebody else's 98 ta who blew up with similar mileage as well.

Not saying All will meet the same demise but you're better safe than sorry when it comes to spending 100-200 bucks preventing it rather than spending a grand to replace the longblock after it goes bye bye lol

The ARP rod bolts are different weight than the stockers and may throw off your balance. Katech rod bolts are factory weight upgrades. Katech bolts are twice as expensive though...

GM rod bolts in the 2001+ part# are a good upgrade as well, Katech bolts can be hard to get and co$t quite a bit.

We've spun ls1's over 7500 with ARP's and never had an issue. In fact never even heard of anyone having an issue with balance due to ARP rod bolts on stock bottom end lsx engines.

Def use ARP rod bolts and invest in a set of multi layer steel head gaskets if you plan on spraying. You say only 100 shot now.....trust me, n20 is like a drug. You'll wanna spray more and more Good luck!

If you guys change rod bolts, don't you have to have the rod resized?

I swapped out the rod bolts to ARP ones in my '03 LS6 as soon as i pulled it out of the GM crate, very easy and worth the security. never had a balance issue.

When i really dig into my current LS6, ill be doing the same.
