WHY is the Toyota LAND CRUISER so EXPENSIVE???

Anyone know? I mean wow is this car expensive. And it holds its value TREMENDOUSLY. 180,000 miles 1996 $9000 bucks.

Anyone who believes book value on anything over 100K miles is stupid. People overpay for those trucks to begin with so of course they think they hold their value. But any vehicle with 196K on it is going to have lots of maintenance issues in the near future so $9000 is a pipe dream.

i remember selling those during the beginning of the recession....they were going for 60K average. Just like the Land Rover's, and Porsche Caymen, I cannot justify any mid size SUV over 40K, in the end, it's still a vehicle with 4 tires and a roof over your head.

Jeffm don't think for a second this is something I want. I'm just curious.
WHO IS going to justify that? what's the market for a 96 with 180k for $10k

They were hella-expensive new....people still think they're worth their weight in gold. If people are getting that much for that year/mileage all the power to them.

They are the last real offroad vehicle toyota imported to the US also.
 Solid axles front and rear.

 Front and rear locker options

 Coils front and rear.

I mean I know not everyone looks at them from that standpoint but they truly are the last "worldy" toyota imported.

My friend had one that I used to drive alot when I just got my license. I love them. I want to get one and swap in a GM 5.3 or something. Unbelievable.
He had this model but in an ugly green color and a rusty brush guard and tail light guards:
