Nightshading? Thinking About Blacking Out...
So the taillights on my car are a bit cracked and spider-webbed around the edges and I picked up a mint tailpiece for my Thunderbird. Now here's the question. I've painted quite a few pieces in my day but have no real experience with Nightshading...so anyone got some tips on these things or know a body shop thats experienced with professionally tinting my tails?
Looking for that black cherry color more so than I am totally black and I've seen the Nightshade come out pretty crappy on other cars. Lemme know what youve encountered.

If you don't want a permanent solution, Plasti-dip has a smoke paint, perfect for what you want. I picked two cans up at Pep-Boys. I'll post some pictures this weekend when I finish.

Spray light coats and let it tack up before spraying another. Check the tint before you spray more. You can always go darker, harder to reverse it. Definitely use a good quality clear over the top. Might even want to take it to a body shop for the clear.

lol For the record, the whole tail panel section on a Tbird has no lights in it anyway, just the outer corners do. I dont want a super dark tint, just looking for something like the Trans Ams had...black cherry style. Maybe I'll practice on the old one first lol
something like this is all I want

Practicing on the old makes sense. Make sure you do the 3rd too!

I've done a few items, and finished up with a spray bomb clear like Duplicolor. Between coats of clear I wet sand with 1500 paper. Then I use my secret weapon: I use a buffing ball like the one Mother's makes for wheels and use polishing compound. Then a good waxing and u are a pimpin pimp!!!

My buddy does the same. Couple drops of black in some clear and spray away.
