Anniversary Event!!!!

hey gang,
as many of you know i have been talking with some of teh track around the state to see if we coudl set up somethign big for our 1 year anniversary and then try to turn it into an annual thing
what i am wonderign is what you guys would like to see at a major gathering?
here is what we have in mind currently:

4 foot brake type bracket classes(6cyl, true street radial, drag radial, adn slick/cheater slick) as well as a few fun run/grudge lanes

5-8 vendors including a portable chassis dyno(the vendors will put up prizes and have stuff for sale at the meet, doubel win for us )

a car show(this i am going to need a lot of help with, i am a racer, not a car show guy)

i will also work with vendors and sponsors that are both local and national to try to put together a goodie bag to hand out at the gate(we did this the first year of the east coast nats at e-town adn it was a big hit) also we will try to mix in a 50/50 or some other give aways through out the day.

teh format of teh event will be f-body exclusive. i apologize in advance to all non-owner members. i have had problems in the past when other types of cars are present during the event and i plan to avoid them this time.

possibility of a burn out contest, time/sponsor permitting

informational clinics, if we can find peopel to present

i know it is a long ways in advance, but it is nto long until teh tracks start planning their calendars for next year. i am trying to get as big a head start as possible.

let me know what you guys have in mind, every idea will be considered.

later

Road course would be nice, burnout contest.when getting the track make sure we could get alot closer to the cars to take photos when running the quarter mile..like in e-town where the guy stands when throwing the photos would be nice..make sure you get good track prep.

Definitly like the chassis dyno. Saw portable ones at the Wildwood Car Show. I'm interested to see if my little LG4 breaks 100hp at the rear wheels .

Have you guys thought about having "clinics" where thouse of you who know a lot about f-bodies can show those of us who don't or learn by working on their car?

kamikaz- haven't got a shot at a road course this year, i love the burnout contest idea. i think we will have to add that one if we can work it into teh schedule

oddball- the clinic thing is a good idea. i dunno who to ask about tech stuff, but i know we could maybe get some people to do detailing tips, maybe paint and body tips, and prolly someone to do an intro to drag racing kind of a thing. good thinkin

squirell- i will never work with e-town again after the last time. island and atco are possibilities, most likely island.

keep the ideas coming gang!!!!!

I'm pretty sure if you get a big enough turnout you could ask some of the top vendors to give seminars on various subjects.maybe guys from chevy or pontiac could show and bring some of their project rides.i believe in this years big f-body event they did a 0-100-0 thing to see who did it the quickest..not sure how big the tracks your looking at are for this tho..maybe we could get the guys who are making the average guys carshow to come down and do something on drag racing,as far as what to do at the track and stuff for newbies..

Santos

the 0-100-0 thing sounds really cool. i would have to see about time and space though. if we expect to get 100-150 cars though a day of time shots adn bracket racing + a burnout contest i dunno if there will be time to do this.
it will likely come down to how long a day we are givin by the track. definately adding this to teh maybe list though

A friend of mine is in HS now and hes part of the school tv studio and has time on a cable channel. He'd go nuts if i gave him the chance to come with a few other kids and their cameras and tape it all to edit it down for TV. Anyone have any objections to their rides possibly being put on television?

santos- thanks man. i will definately be in touch once we get the date set i n stone about this.

speakersgoboom- taht brings up a point that we may start working on in the near future, teh media. this event will go a long way to hang an image of community involvment on teh club. tv, radio, and print media of all types will be invited to the big show as well as several of the smaller gathering leading up to it.
your friends are definately invited and can bring the cameras. i would like a copy of the raw and final vids as well as permission to use the images collected to promote our club.
