I haven't used a corded sawzall in years, then again I have 5 18 volt batteries. I use Milwaukee. Depends, for what and where do you plan on using it?

I grab the corded one when I know I will be cutting for a while or requiring some long term pah. The cordless is nice because....cordless.

Cordless ones are very handy for all sorts of things, probably the best cordless tool you could buy, but if you have a serious cutting job nothing will beat a portercable 120v tigersaw. I have one at work, though I usually use my cordless for most things, but that thing is a vicious beast. Next step up from that thing is a chainsaw.
If you go corded, find the one with the highest amp rating and longest stroke. I would avoid Milwaukee here since I have their best offering and it's seriously lacking. Interesting side note, I ran a milwaukee one on 240v once by accident and it was on par with my portercable but got really hot fast, lol. Don't try it

Cordless I would recommend milwaukee first, it's probably the best.
Makita 2nd but they still don't offer one with the orbital option for wood/demo work and straight for steel.
Rigid make a very good saw for the price, but the quality is quite different than the other two.
Never been a fan of DeWalt, their newer stuff may be better but the old stuff sucked and the batteries never lasted.

If going cordless, we've had good luck with DeWalt and it seems their batteries have come a long way in the last decade we've been using them. Definitely best value for someone who doesn't use them everyday.
