Im glad you got to check out all the G6's. Having one of these ****y GM cars, coming on 2 years now, nothing has fallen apart, off, or have squeeked. Interior is still in perfect shape, despite abuse. I have no reason to belive that the G6 would fair any worse. While in your mind, the Accord is better then the G6, it clearly comes down to a test drive. The new Accord, while very nice, its interior is well layed out, and hides the cheap plastics well. Thats about the only advantage the Accord has over the G6. Due to society, Honda is now considerd higher class then a Pontiac, while they will both get the job done for you.
But hey, you know they all fall apart, why should I argue with you.

haha al seriously that's not what i meant. i know i know gm quality has gone up a lot. i'm not trying to argue this with you. but you have to admit, after reading some of your posts from the past year you tend to exaggerate how great gm is that it's hard to take some of your opinions seriously. for example, the aveo is "up class" or something like that. give me a break.
i mean, honestly if you told me 3 years ago i'd be defending a honda i'd probably punch you in the face. maybe i'm getting old, but honestly gm (minus caddillac) doesn't make a car that i'd actually want to drive short of a corvette or gto, which are both out of my price range. yes they have been improving in recent years and i hope someday they make a car that i can afford and actually want to drive. but do you honestly think that the grand am replacement is up to par with an accord?
by the way, i ditched brand loyalty when gm stopped making f bodies (yea i know there's another one coming - but it tought me one thing, that gm, or any other car manufacturer for that matter, doesn't give a **** about me). so now i'll drive whatever i want that i can afford. if i could afford a g35, i'd get one hands down. if i could afford a c6, i'd DEFINITELY get one. but if it will help you sleep tonight, i'll go out and test drive a g6 (if they let me) sometime next week and report back.

You'll be able to get a '05 GTO for under 30K especially after the '06's come rolling out more.
You did say UNDER 30K so don't bite my head off at the suggestion
Plus, I've seen preowned 05's with less than 15K on the clock going for 24-26K.

Dont do it for me, do it for youself. My opinions are skewd, perhaps, but its not without merrit. Drive the car for yourself and tell me. The Grand Am replacement just shows that you already put the G6 behind the 8 ball. You dont give it a clean slate, you look at the car as of the "Grand Am". There was a guy at the trucks that traded in his Z28 for a G6 GTP sedan, and loved it. I belive he said he was looking at the Accord V6 sedan, but he liked the G6 better. Forget the brand loyalty ****, and just drive the car. Whats the point of spending more money on a Honda badge over a Pontiac, if the Pontiac does the job the same, if not better? Because the Honda badge has more pizzaz? What is it? The sexy sound of VTEC? The only thing that you did when you saw G6 is that it was a POS Grand Am, never even setting food inside one, much less driving it. THAT is what disturbs me more then anything in your post.
Drive the GTP coupe with 6spd, and tell me how exactly why you would spend the extra cash on an Accord, outside of the "image" of owning one.

Both Tony and Al bing up very valid points.
05 GTO's can be had for cheap, pick up a pre-owned one for cheap and still have a ton of warantee left
The G6 is nothing like the grand am. Its a completely different car. Yes it took the grand am's place, but it a much more refined ride than the grand am.

well then i will have to look at them. i'll also check out used accords as well. the only thing i don't like about buying used is that you kind of have to just jump on what's available. whereas if you buy new chances are you can get exactly what you want. i'm picky

first off- hondas are loud
second- as well as they drive, the news ones have had some reliablilty issues.
thirdly- never rule out a car just cause you think you wont like it. if you told me a month or two ago i would be driving a saturn and loving every minute of it i would slap you. test drive the G6, what do you have to lose? i personally dont like the styling. i know you ruled out 4 doors but i would check out the saab 9-3. saabs are some very well built cars and you wouldnt believe how much fun they are to drive.
i'm a professional as well and even though i am only 19 i have had to drive to potential clients and meet up with execs for lunch. i did all that in my old isuzu. it turns out the hallmark exec had a cammed 02 z06 that he offered to let me take for a spin next time i see him and told me to bring my camaro next time. i wouldnt be too worried about your car reflecting your business cause thats not quite what people look at when they see you.

the only big honda reliability issues i've heard of recently (in the last 5 years) are with the automatic transmissions. you know of any specific one's i should look out for?
as far as the g6, i did have a friend who was looking at new cars recently, who's opinion i somewhat trust, tell me that he looked at g6's and was dissappointed. but you guys convinced me, i will go investigate for myself (hopefully this week). however, i priced one out and with all the options to put it on par with the accord it comes out at either just under 27 or 28 grand.

yeah thats what it was, the tranny was recalled recently though. also i heard some electrical woes with that new dash, but that was mainly with the first year model and i wouldnt worry about that. the tranny was the main thing and i wasnt thinking and forgot that you were getting the manual so i guess my statement really didnt apply to you.
