I gotta go with the band waggon on this one, the guy worked on it, it sucks that he took so long but he has to get paid.

Anyway you can definatly do it yourself, if your underneath the car just snake your hand around it get a good grip and pull down it's a bitch. You can compare it to milking a discruntal cow, but in the end you wont get a cup of milk ...

Now now Josh....be nice to the kids

Vinny, it does suck that you got billed $60.00 and didn't get anything done, but sometimes stuff like that happens. IMO, the mechanic should have taken the car off of the lift after 10 minutes, when he realized that he wasn't going to be able to get it done easily.

Just toss her up on jackstands and spend some time doing it yourself.

The funny thing is if they removed the ypipe, removed the starter, & installed the dipstick then put the starter & ypipe back on and then charged you the $225+tax for labor you probably still wouldve been on here complaining that it shouldnt have taken 3 hours to do all of that stuff and they were overcharging you. Either do it yourself or stop complaining.

Yeah although that probably is true I'll admit that... its not the situation. Like Justin said the guy should have told me after the 10mins. My point is not the fact that he charged me the $60, its that he bull****ted an hour buy so he could charge me $60. Thats my point.

Yeah JS I'll hand it to you I am an idiot for listening to my dad after I got screwed over the first time. As far as your needing to make fun of me, why? Do you feel better about your self now? If so good go off and enjoy. The 305 Camaro is mine the 71 mint resto'd stingray is my dads...

It's spelled "Ridiculous" because the root word is "ridicule", not redicule, or rediculous, or redicoulous.

.....Sorry. I get frustrated... hahaha.

but Liz what about reedikyouliss? i sounded it out.

anyways...I think, that, a. you shoudlve learned the first time, and b. if you dont want to do it yourself or you cant find the time or one of various other legitimate excuses...drive somewhere, find someone you can trust with your vehicle and will work with you on pricing...not charge you money you never agreed to...

60 bucks for an hours worth of labor!?!?! thats a deal and a half! we charge 75 I think. bigger dealerships charge anywhere from 90 all the way up to the 100-teens. be glad you didnt get stuck with a 120 bill for nothing. some dealerships charge a fee just for putting the car up on the lift and looking at it. If you think about your situation in a larger perspective, then you really didnt get as badly screwed as you think.

Ive been ripped by mechanics before, and truely if you want it done right your gonna have to find a real good tech, and you will end up paying for it. Or do it your self..

And honestly the car is close to 20 years old, I sure as hell would rather work on a newer car with the less rust then an older car with more rust. grime etc..

who knows the mechanic coulda been an import guy...

Ughh yeah sure. First of all you warn me about stuff I dont even do/care about. Second of all I'm plenty capable of putting a dipstick in just figured it would be a 5min thing while it was up on the lift. Not to mention I dont see how its my fault I dont have the jackstand/money to buy them to do it myself. And Third of all but not really important my car has 0 rust.

I bought my jack stands from pepboys for like 20 bucks.. the jack and stands still work.. I just bought a better jack..

You can also buy ramps.

The FIRST things you need when working with cars are tool's, you should get a set of jack stands and a good jack before you buy another mod for your car.

Damn, and I thought I got screwed over when the dealership charged me $500 to make the heat in the Camaro work (and the core got ******** clogged a week later)....Damn $60 now thats really bad its the nature of the beast, if you decide to let others work on your car, be prepared to spend alot of money. Im with everyone else, if that guy screwed you over before, maybe you should have expressed that with your father before going back. Sorry, but **** happens...

Pretty sure hes the one that decided to crack the wise ass comment. Its not like I care who he is or how big he is (although theres probably a good chance hes a pipsqueek seeing as how he likes to run his mouth and feel tough on the net). Theres a good 95% chance the guy wouldnt have the balls to even settle **** like it should be hed rather just do this ****:

O wait I have more smilies than him do i win now?

And you really went ape-**** on him for what? saying you were complaining about pretty much nothing in the long run. He really didnt say anything that bad dude! We understand that youre upset over this, but ya know what, its really not a big deal (especially for $60) you really got lucky not spending $500 or more like I and most likely a bunch of other people on here have. You have the right to be upset, but this is the internet-Everything CAN and WILL be used against you.
