my question........steve smith and ray lucas of the panthers got in a fight and the nfl didnt get involved becasue "its a team issue when 2 team employees fight"
so why is the nfl going to get involved in this? they are both cowboys employees

There is an obvious line between what happens in the excitement of a game and a clear sign that someone hasn't truly abandoned their old bad habits. PacMan has a history of serious problem off the field. That is why he was suspended and put on probation in the first place
I also have trouble considering 14 months since your last police interview the "straight and narrow". It is a sign that he hasn't really changed as much as he tries to play it in the press.

straight and narrow means he complied with the terms of his suspension and reinstatement 100%, and you cant argue that because he was goodells poster child since all this began, so for goodell to let him back in the league in the first place, the people that actually get information from somewhere other than sportcenter must know somthing
remember........good news isnt news

No one will do anything about it because these crybaby assclowns make people money, and that's all sports is about anyway.

Great, Mr Millionaire managed to go a whole year without taking another trip to prison. He's an f'ing roll model for troubled youth everywhere
Get real Mike, part of his agreement was to STAY OUT OF TROUBLE.

.....who have more skill than some fat offensive lineman who can't get out of his own way.
I'd love to see T.O. or Brian Westbrook on a pair of skates as a 240# guy hits him skating at full speed. (that'd actually be pretty funny)

Bah...hockey players are maladjusted figure skaters with poor tempers.

Teach either of these guys to skate and the NHL will look very different in a short period of time...NHL players are roller derby wannabe's with weapons...that's why hockey ranks slightly above cricket and water-polo in the U.S.

The last time I watched hockey was a pretty long time ago. Not interested ( like most of the country). I'll stick to football.
I actually enjoy playing hockey. I haven't played in quite some time, though.
Don't take personal offense, guys. Hockey has never and will never be as popular as Football, baseball,or basketball ( from a national viewing standpoint). The "best" players are usually from other countries and therefore much harder to root for than "home-grown" athletes. The NBA is starting to field a pretty big crop of foreign players and coincidentally the tv ratings continue to fall. However, there are still big name, American "stars" left in the NBA and they ARE the league's "best" players. The same is not true of the NFL where 99.9% of the athletes are American, attended high school here, played college ball here, and into the pros here. That's why it truly is America's past time.

What does popularity have to do with skill?

did he get in trouble, because last i heard the guy was a willing participant in the scuffle and neither man received charges......only a fool would use him as a roll model in either case

Nothing and I'm pretty sure I addressed that in my post. I didn't say these guys weren't skilled at their profession, but in the same respect you said you'd like to see T.O. or Brian Westbrook put on a pair of skates and be hit by a 240lb guy. These guys are just as skilled, in all likelihood faster than damn near anyone in the NHL, and would probably welcome only having to deal with 240lb guys as opposed to the 200-350lb guys they see every single week ( who also happen to be moving at full speed). Football is a far more violent game than hockey regardless of the fights and hits. No hockey player could put on a football uniform and go do what Brian Westbrook does. PERIOD!

I don't think he will get into any trouble as far as the league goes. He'll pay for the mirror he broke and this will disappear. I hope so, anyway. Only because if he does get into trouble/ gets suspended the Titans would have to give Dallas a 6th round pick next year.

The way that Westbrook can dance around defenders, I would bet he has teh balance and is nimble enough that he could figure it out. T.O. with his long stride would be able to do it, but it would be more difficult.
Face it, at least to some degree, athletes are athletes. They can do, or at least figure out a lot more activities than they already participate in, just need to be given a chance.
It is just like top level race car drivers. Cruz Pendregon is just some funny car driver, did you see him wheeling that super late model during the prelude to the dream? That so-cal straight liner was gettin around pretty damn good.

Children don't know to distinguish between good and bad behavior or how to level the difference between what someone does well and what parts of life they suck at. Based on so many of the images in society, meaning how so many negatives have become "cool", most kids don't have the knowledge base to pick between people attributes to come up with a good answer.
Athletes aren't roll models by choice, it is by default. They need to understand this and do what they can to put out an image that is constructive for kids to follow.

I don't know if you've noticed, considering where you work I would hope you have, but a lot fo kids ignore the better examples of society and latch onto the negatives that are placed in front of them in much much higher volume.
I know enough people that came from good families and had solid support systems at home that are spending a long time in prison because they decided to follow the wrong example. Be it because it was cool in their mind, some form of greed, or just basic stupidity, negative examples are far better promoted than the positive ones in American society.
It is up to those who get idolized to help. I know they can't be the final solution and I know not all of the blame rests of them, but they are still a part of the problem and allow the cycle to propagate year after year and generation after generation.
