I haven't done it, but you can get a rebuild kit for under $40 (last time i looked) at most parts stores.

it looks like progress, but i will jump on the bandwagon and say WTF were you thinking about not masking anything? seriously, tape or even tinfoil would have taken a few minutes and the finished product would look many times better.
You fuel lines seem to be open as well, probably filled with sand and crap, as well as the trans cooler lines ect....
oh, and your passenger-side strut mount looks wasted

yea i had a dee dee dee moment like usual. The trans lines can be cleaned out when I swap them. Ill have to see about the fuel lines tho and the brake lines im not worried about I sandblasted with the old pv on and painted carefully not to get into the openings but I am masking things off now for the last prime and paint coats.
Pass strut mount looks wasted, what do you mean by that?
Justin I found the rebuild kit on rockauto for 22 bucks...but thirdgens write up to rebuild the box says it takes 6 hours. I wouldnt mind tackling that but im too busy with other things right now and need this done yesterday so hopefully someone with experience rebuilding one of these boxes who wants some extra quick cash could hit me up.

in the one pic, teh top of the strut seems to be way over to one side of the mount, like in rubber bushing in the mount is broken.

looks good, i would mask some accessories to leave them flat, and then clear the rest of the bay

I got clear coat and will finish that up tomorrow.
As for the motor mounts...I have poly ones on the work bench...that is one other thing that will be done before the motor and trans is put in but not until it is at my buddies shop. It will just be easier their with a shop full of tools and what not compared to my garage and rinky dink walmart tool kit!
Btw what would you mask off before clear? Wiper motor box? I cant really think of any thing else.

Oh so I didnt clear coat it, I ended up painting it all again with high temp black ceramic engine paint(masked **** off and took out the steering box/shaft) It looks pretty good and its resistant to oil and gas and stuff(more than regular paint at least).
fenders and side skirts are on, master and prop valve are on along with steering shaft.
I pick up my quick ratio steering box from the junkyard tomorrow. Then that goes on and when my 100ft of various size wire loom comes in tomorrow I will loom up all the wires in the engine bay and put the nose on that car.
Tomorrow im also picking up my hooker super comp long tubes
At that point ill take pics again and get the car towed to the shop the motors getting put in at, get the motor mounts in and wait on the motor.
Right now the motor is waiting for new wrist pins for the pistons, heads are being cleaned up and put back together with new stem seals and then the motor will be put together and in the car!
All I can think of that I need is an exhaust system, I want true duals for a thirdgen with a auto trans if any one knows of any one selling a system.

lol i taped off nj 383 after sanding and polishing that area down to bare metal. then painted the engine bay, it looks cool but it was just a fook around side project I wanted to try out...it gets covered by the coolant overflow tank anyway so it wont be seen. :P
Motor should be in by the end of next week!

So the car is coming along even more now. Front clip is all in place and mostly bolted up. Headlights are in all wires loomed up nicely new seats in the car. Just have to finish wiring the dome light up and put the top half of the interior back in(no headliner it got damaged bad in my garage) and its all ready to go get a motor!
PICS
