My friend built up a mountain bike and had over $3500 into it. He never rides it though. I bought a Specialized Hardrock Sport about 7-8 years ago and beat the crap out of it and still ride it today. It has 2 or 3 broken spokes and a warped wheel and tire with no tread left so I think it's time for another bike. I don't like the suspension so that's why I went with the Hardrock sport.
