Yes they suck... they also most likely gave you character.
To the OP: Try getting in touch with a local contractor, and offer to be his day-laborer. The pay will probably be low and the work will be hard, but the experience and character you gain will be invaluable.

I don't see what the problem is with shoprite or any supermarket really. I know of a couple people who have worked there through college for the last 2+ years, and I believe it is a great job for a student. They have fairly flexible hours, you get regular raises, and there will always be hours available. It's not like working construction or working in a dealership in this economy where you'll be working overtime one week, and 10 hours the next week. But just like any entry level job, they will use you as much as they can. You don't have to work with the public if you can get into stocking.

This is the best suggestion, as there's a good chance you will be learning some skills along the way. Loading boxes or packing groceries won't really help you out later on.

Maybe it was addressed in another thread but why don't you have your license?
You're going to have a really hard time getting ANY job dealing with or being around cars with no license.

even when your 18 I believe you need your permit for 6 months before you can get your provisional license. THen after a year of the provisional you get the real deal. You can get the permit without the driving school at 18, and I don't think it cost much at all.

Did not mention that on the DMV website, pass written test, pass driving test, win.

For Drivers 17-21 from NJ DMV site:
Quote:
Updated May 1, 2010- new GDL requirements
For drivers age 17 or older, MVC offers a three-phase process:
* Examination permit
* Probationary license (minimum one year of restricted but unsupervised driving)
* Basic driver license (must be 18 years old)
|
Quote:
Practice supervised driving for at least six months

Yea but he is already 18, so those new rules should not apply to him. But w/e, I do not care.

its not, it seems the op is very misinformed. dude go to dmv, pay your cash...its like 18 bucks, take the eye test at the counter then take your written test. pass it and youll get a piece of paper with two spots on the back of it. one spot will say PERMIT the second spot will say PROVISIONAL LICENSE. upon passing the permit test they will affix a hologram to the ''permit'' section making it valid for practice driving. 6 months later take your drivers test and they will give you the hologram on the provisional license which will be yours until your cinderella license is up.
either way man, your 18 without a license, having your mom drive you to your job??? you need to learn some bus routes or something.
Go take yourself to a home depot or something overnight. they pay extra for overnight shift, theres no customers to bother you and its pretty easy work which can get you some experience later on for other things....like forklift operation and machines

Why is it people are aways wrong? God dammit I don't need a Driving school Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so damn happy.
Went to local Chevy dodge and Ford dealer. What a bunch of ass's it took like a 1/2 hour at each one. At Chevy there was some dick on the phone. Ford gave me the run around had to talk to some one that did not know how to speak english. Some real nice Mustangs tho. Dodge was alright not that bad no Challengers tho. Shop Rite pays $8.00 a hour Part time only Benifits come in a year. And i have a hook up at dunkin dounts so i don't know.

Problem with ShopRite is the union.....part of your check will be going to a union that for all intents and purposes does nothing for you. They are a pretty poor excuse for a union.
