Nasty, I dont think theres much I can do with his personal banking info. From what I understand, if I win my case, the courts handle the rest. Im not 100% sure, but I think theres another form I can file that requests his financial info and enables wage garnishing. Im tempted to give you $75 to snap the sideskirt in half and ship it to him in a paper bag.
This kid is to dumb to realize that this is going to **** his credit for the rest of his life.

lol alright man, i was just trying to give a hand here. but yeah my gf said there isnt much you can do with the info that the courts arent already able to get access to. so ill just send him a pm telling him he can pick up the skirt while he's in town for court

That would be fun.....seeing the response after he tries to install it would be worth chipping in for shipping this.

and, the lamest statement i have heard to date: "that since I didnt ask for insurance, I was at fault for the damage." people are constantly and consistently trying to offload responsibility on who ever they think will take it. it is not the buyer's responsibility to ask for insurance. the seller offers it. if the buyer doesn't want to pay, sometimes i do it anyway just to avoid the hassle of things like this thread - and it all comes down to not wanting to pay an extra $0.50. ****ing kids.

He and his mother both think he is not responsible for the damage because I never asked for insurance. Regardless of whether there was insurance on it or not, UPS denied the coverage saying HE was at fault. "****ing kids" with dumb-ass parents.
When I ship anything, I see insurance as protection for the shipper, not the buyer. I think this is especially the case for a high value item in a private sale because you cannot replace the part. $0.50 insurance is easy, $2.00 in packing foam is common sense, the logic to put it all together is obviously priceless.
Almost every decent company follows the same procedure of insuring anything of value, because crap like this does happen. I think ebay is the only company that bull****s the buyer with the condition of insurance for coverage.

It does not. Only if it is packaged by a UPS store.

Right. It'd be helpful to get that in writing from UPS too and maybe even get an opinion from a UPS store employee.

The kid used a local pharmacy to print a shipping label and I have been in contact with the owner. He faxed me a copy of the letter from UPS denying the coverage. It has a full list of why it was not properly packaged and tips for the future.

Went to court today and won a default. No surprise the little bastard didnt show up. Now I have to file more paper work to prove he's not in the military, and what he owes me, yada yada. Small claims is such a pain in the ass.
Im not buying anything over $100 through forums unless its in person from now on. Its just not worth the hassle. Lesson learned.

at least now, youll get ur money, just takes time. and in the future, yes you could avoid larger purchases, but you sometimes may miss out on a real good deal that way. life is about risks, that part sucks.
I used to sell a bunch of stuff all over different forums. Ans my thing was that id always use the same user name, so i could show i was active on many boards and in good standing. If i sold stuff on a forum, id also state i was an ebay user under the same name and they could look at my feedback over there.
On this site, there are several shady sellers whom the original njfboa group and BBQ group know about and are aware of. So its an option on other forums, maybe PM common/repeat users and see if they know anything about a certain seller if you are hesitant. on a board like ls1tech, its too wide spread really but smaller boards it may be worth it. just my 2 cents.

Yeah, but paypal also sucks at doing anything. It seems high value parts tend to be sold by complete retards. Between this and an intake/TB I never pursued like 3 years ago, Ive been scammed out of over $850. Thats enough to have bought all my used parts new. Yes, there are a majority of excellent sellers, but I feel its no longer worth rolling the dice.

Chargebacks are a bitch. Bought a double-din online last summer, guy took my money & said the headunit fell out of his hands & broke while he was shipping it & that he was going to try to get it repaired--a week later, communication is next to nothing. Called my card company, explained, and did a chargeback. Voila, money was credited back to me through Visa & paypal got shafted. PayPal then pursued the seller for their money, b/c they weren't about to get shafted in the middle of all this either. In the end, things worked out well & I didn't lose a penny. Take that, scumbag.
