Rough Night At New Egypt

jsut got home from teh track. lots of action, unfortunately some of it involved the 99 and 17b.
randy in the 99 was set to start 14th in the rookie feature tonight. got a really good start and picked off 7 cars in 3 laps. he didn't make it to lap 4 though.
he passed a car on the outside coming out of turn 4 and down the front stretch. when they got to turn 1 the guy decided he wanted teh spot back, so he drove into randy's left rear quarter. that spun randy broadside in the middle of the track where another car couldn't avoid him.
bent up a lot of tin, left side rub rails, and a few rods. all repairable, but it ended the evening.
the 17b had a much worse accident. he was in 5th place in his consolation race, the top 5 finishers get to transfer to the feature. he was looking good until they went back to green after a caution. another driver hit ej about halfway down the front sstraight and never bothered to lift out of the throttle. the result was the 17b going over hard in turn 1.
ej is ok, but the car is hurt bad. busted up the rear, all teh body work and most of the body mounts are macked, the front clip is pushed over, and the front axle is now u shaped. needless to say there were more than just words exchanged with the other driver.
looks like several of us will be spending a lot of hours up at the shop this week working on the cars.

things turned out better than we thought for both cars pretty much.
randy's car had a ton of cosmetic damage adn a few "minor" bolt on pieces.
ejs car survived the flip with only some straightening needed to the front clip. the "frame machine" of choice turned out to be a roll back truck, some 4x4 posts, a torch, and a few sledge hammers
everything that is bolted to the chassis of ejs car was pretty much junk, but no major frame damage to worry about. no cage distortion or stress marks in any of the major bulk heads either.
both cars will be ready for saturday night, helpfully with a little better luck.

that is the 17b going over hard. you can see clearly that dickwad hammond not only didn't lift, but clearly turns into ej. someone has a biggie sized ass whoopin coming saturday night.
the worst part is that i talked to a guy today that ran with this hammond smacker is super stocks, said he used to dump people all the time in that class too.

ej was fine.
car is comign back together very nicely. ej and his dad have about half teh body mounts remade already, engine was checked over, new rear suspension and carrier installed, new complete front axle installed.
really all that is left is throwing a few new radious rods on and hammering the tins flat enough to rehang. he will be ready for saturday for sure.
that video is going to the track office in the next few days, hopefully they will dislodge their heads from their asses and actually hand down some punishment and someone else will avoid a similar incident in the future.

we banged teh tins flat on randy's car last nite only to discover that the body mount on that side was pushed back about 3inches.
he has a spare rub rail that he may try to patch up to reuse, it is bent but far better the other one.
gonna go up there again tomorrow and maybe friday. hopefully all that is left is to scale adn set frame heights tomorrow. i left before they stopped working cause i had stuff to do.
