Restoration Progress of the 86 TA (Updated)

I got a good interior from Paul (SmokingSS) and cleaned all the pieces up for a real good 2 hours. The trunk area is 90% done (except for the missing plastic screws, the High Rise Spoiler, and Window Louvers ). Not to mention, I sprayed undercoating under the rear rug for protection. This Tuesday or Wednesday, I'll end up redoing the T-Top weatherstripping and replace the bar to fix the leaks, then I'll install some 4th gen seats and new gray molded carpet, and work in the passenger area. I also have to reorganize all the wiring under the dash along with completely removing the old dysfunctional alarm system with no off button . Then its off to the exterior! I also painted the middle taillight piece for kicks, cuz I plan on going back to the standard honeycombs.

All and all so far, I probably removed a good 125 lbs from it (rear aeroing, seats, and $6.00 in quarters and nickels)

Wasn't this one... would be suprising to see this boggy LG4 accelerate from a 60 roll

For a good hour today, I cleaned up the rest of the new interior panels, mainly Ttop pillars, underdash components. Gonna tear the carpet out tomorrow, and start ripping apart the ttop weatherstripping Wednesday. Also cleaned up the stock rims real good. Then I gotta go searching for some nice 4th gen seats and a console, then its off to the exterior! (Finally)

K, today being Wednesday, I ripped apart the rest of the dash. Now for the fun parts. I got one of my tools caught between the rug by the brake pedal and something else. The carpet flipped back and I almost dropped a big one in my pants. Besides finding an ancient carphone setup, my plans have now changed, and it's prolly gonna cost me some big bucks to fix it... take a gander Its new name... is the Flinstone Mobile

psh, thats not that bad. You can buy just that section of the floor. Cross brace the car, cut that nasty stuff out and weld the new sheet metal in. then remove the cross bracing. it would only take a few hours assuming you had everything there and ready to go.

If it's only that one section by the pedals it's not bad. If you have the tools you can do it in a day with a $150 (approx) floor section.

See... i dont "have" the tools if it requires welding. A long time ago back when I was like 10 years old, my dad took street signs and made a new floor in his '86 Ford E350... i dont even think he welded them in.

*Edit* Both sides are pretty bad. The backseat area is completely fine with a couple smidgets of surface rust. I have to fix my weatherstripping in my T-tops before i do anything though. Thanks for the help guys

You could rent a welder for a day.

Recommended flooring? I saw stainless diamondplate does good and decreases weight a tad. Or anybody know where I can take it to get it done? I would rather do it myself (along with my pops). I want this interior completely done by sometime August. Thanks

I would just buy a stock replacement panel. they have beads rolled into them for strength and you know its gonna fit no problem. save yourself the headache and just buy that part of the floor from year one or classic industries or whoever.
