FOUR B5 S4s stolen at Waterfest in NJ
http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/2056000.phtml
"I'm kicking myself for not pulling my ECU, and for posting on this ****ing board about where we were staying. But to be honest, I don't think it would have helped. The other car that I heard was stolen was with the spec clutch group, was stolen from a hotel near ours, and had 2 security systems."
If anyone cares to know, the B5 S4 is stolen constantly in certain areas of NJ. Many drivers came in to NJ from other states and 4 of them had their cars stolen. Unfortunately, many of them posted information on where they were staying on the AW boards confirming suspicions that they do indeed read the boards.

and?
criminals with web access isn't really news, nor are cars being stolen, especially in jersey.
there are cars stolen at nearly every major gathering. several years ago a bunch of guys lost their cars at the memphis f-body gathering.
it happens, criminals take stuff, thats what makes them criminals.

car thieves are not your ordinary variety of thief. the successful ones have tricks, electronics and ways to subvert your security system in a matter of seconds. i've always said if they want my car badly enough they will get it, no doubt about it. about the only thing that would help is a lojack/GPS and then only if it is hidden really well (so they can't find it when they stop up the road to look for it).
sounds like it might almost make it worth it to hire a security guard to travel with you if you've got cars that are worth something on the retail market (either whole or in parts). what's a coupla dollars versus the sinking feeling you get when you walk out of your room in the morning only to find empty parking space(s) where the car(s) used to be.
what's this b5 s4? some kind of exotic audi?

5th gen S4. '04 and newer S4's are A4's with A8 engines. '01 - '03 had the A6 twin turbo 6. Very fast, very expensive.

My neigbor got theirs stolen 3 times and each time they got it back. After the 3nd time she got smart enough to put in a kill switch but i still dont think that would stop them from getting it to start. She finally traded it in to stop all the problems.

From the sounds of it the s4 is an easy car to hit. What's the deal with that? I know an owner of an 01 s4 chipped and putting down some serious power... daily driven into Princeton... never been stolen. Maybe I should scare him. Doubt it would work. Not because it's missing but because he's got about $400,000 worth of cars.
