So yeah, I'm an idiot

I decided to finish cleaning the timing chain cover during my lunch hour today. After finding a table OUTSIDE, under an overhang that kept the sun off me, and grabbing a 48 oz Coke, I figured I was set.

Good news is, the cover is clean. Bad news is, the white dress shirt I'm wearing is drenched! I planned to bring the oil pan tomorrow but not sure I want to melt in my seat again.

Anyone ever bring any parts to work to clean / work on? Ever do it inside? Not sure what management would say if I pushed my laptop to the side and cleaned the oil pan.

not a good idea inside. i'm surprised they let you get to work outside. usually i had to sit in the car or grab a piece of tar near the car.

also, you should be drinking water or gatorade. the coke (with its caffeine) actually depletes your water reserves instead of replenishing them.

I went for a walk around our complex at lunch today and it's not that bad out at all. I'll be playing volleyball later on after work so that should sweat all the weekend beer out of my system.

Yea, I walked past the door to the outside when I was heading to lunch, and it was still way too hot for me. Can't be much different for you, since you're right across the street

As of 3pm it was 90 degrees, 59% humidity, 99 degree heat index. Not too bad, but still not real fun....

After getting a few laughs about my shirt sticking to me, the office folks on my floor admired the cover then went back to work. No complaints about me using a table outside to clean stuff on, just a few jokes about being stupid.

And if I do work on the oil pan tomorrow, I'll pack a towel and some Gatorade.

See what I was talking about with you younger people being too used to AC. I played volleyball after work yesterday, no big deal, you just end up sweating. It was nice yesterday. I went out for a mountain bike ride Sunday and that wasn't bad either. Heat stroke isn't a risk until the heat index gets up in the 100 teens so no excuses for not getting some exercise. 8) Heck, we were outside almost all day Saturday playing beer pong!

Well I didn't bring the oil pan today. Decided not to do that again. While Jeff was playing Volleyball I mowed my lawn. Second time that day I got drenched. Since today isn't supposed to be any better I'll stay inside with the AC.

That brings back memories of driving my first car. It was a 69 Camaro conv with black vinyl interior. I would leave the top down at work with the seat folded forward to keep the sun off of it and there would always be a small spot that the sun got to and heated up. Nothing like sitting on a black vinyl seat that's been in the sun!

Stick Boy Jeff, the 28 oz wonder, is barely in the same realm as real humans, due to the fact that he is so skinny he is almost transparent. So, he is not subjected to the same hot/cold cycles as real humans, as he is able to side hot and cold molecules. He can also walk between rain drops. And when he talks about playing volley ball, he forgets to mention that he is being used as one of the poles the net is fastened to.

And as for my method of staying cool at work, I find that countless hours wet sanding body parts makes for a cool, but drenched, time.
