modem + lightining = bad
well, that brief thunderstorn we had this afternoon did my modem in. luckily my computer itself was untouched. I got home around 4 to find my comp signed off from aol and wouldnt reconnect, couldnt get a dialtone, i checked then phone line itself and its was dead, so i hooked up to another good line and still it couldnt get a dialtone, after a few restarts, i gave up. i figured it was a sign finally to upgrade my computer. so i went out and bought one, nothign special, but its WAY better then the 1998 DEll 350MHz pc i was using, lol. windows 98 was then, windows xp is now. I networked the two comps so i can still access my large collection of pics and info saved on my old comp, not to mention all contact info for parts bought and sold, since im too lazy to transfer everything and use disk space here. I even got my dual monitor setup I always wanted, This is such an improvement over my old one, i can actually play music, hell i actually have speakers now, haha. next step is to get away from dial-up...that may take a few more years...
