well im taking my car over to my buddy (hes a mechanic) because i ran my car before and i have ruled out anything wrong with the bottom end(or so i think)...anyway i think i might have a collapsed lifter or something to that sort associated with the valvetrain... so well see what he says tomorrow... the only thing keeping me from woopin your ass is my engine and a set of gears

so guys its official... my motor is done and i officially dont know **** about engine sounds like rod knock... i took it to my buddy today and he said my rods are knocking and that i dont have very long for this motor... so it looks like the new combo's goin in very soon... he said i can see some extra life out of the engine with 20-50 oil and ill be doin that tonight so i can at least drive the car around until im ready for the swap... so planning for the new engine continues....

I beat the everloving crap out of my old 2.8 for almost 6 months with rod knock....

Sucks to hear man, some nice thick oil and gentle driving should help it last longer....

Rod knock is the rod bearing going bad or missing . To be certain you have rod knock, look at the engine oil on the dip stick. Is there metal flake in it that makes it sparkle in the light? If so, yup, you've got bearings going bad, if not, it's not rod knock.
