i see what you mean now.
any time i have ever gone racing i have made sure my cell phone was fully charged. never know when you are gonna have to make a "can you give me a ride?" call.
only time i ever actually thought i could have lost my car was at road america. i left my braking a little late going into turn 5(mean downhill brake zone into 90 left transitioning back up hill). i was playing around with a non-driving **** in a viper and got a little more into it than my car was prepared for.
nice big paved run off area saved my ass

i have seen wrecks at the track and now i have been in a serious one on the street. i always felt 10times safer at teh track.
emergancy crews are right there if anything happens and the level of driver awareness and ability is about 50000times higher.
not saying that everyone who ever hit teh track is a car control expert, just saying they are much more liley to be prepared if anything does go wrong.
in all reality most times when people go off at road courses it is little more than paint damage and cleanign gravel out of everywhere. big wrecks are not really very common.
