Brand New Trans Bad??!!

I just finished the install of the new GM 4L60E in my truck and as soon as I put it in gear to take a ride I got all kinds of clattering and clanking and it feels like the new trans is slipping!
Only thing I can think to check clattering would be a converter bolt that came loose on initial startup. But that wouldn't explain the slipping.

Time to see how this 3 year 30,000 mile warranty holds up on a brand new trans. I bet they'll blame it on FedEx and I'll have to wait forever to get a new one. This came from GMPartsDirect by the way. Anyone have a situation like this before?

I'm so pissed off

I'm gonna check the converter bolts tomorrow. If not then something is definitely broken....it sounds like a marble bouncing around in there. A buddy of mine said since they are warrantied for 3 years 36k that they may just have the dealer throw another on in there for me....might be wishful thinking but if they can do it this week coming up I'd be thrilled.

I'll keep you posted on if I find anything tomorrow.

Well I think I have some good news. I don't think it was the trans. My fan shroud got busted up last year when my fan clutch went and I had it duct taped back together. I think from sitting in the heat the tape finally let loose and the sound I was hearing was the fan chopping the shroud to pieces. I pulled the shroud out and drove the truck today a few miles with no noises. I'll be heading down to TCNJ tomorrow with it so that will be the real test. Looking hopeful
