island dragway

i went to island dragway this past sunday on the 11th, and its was packed, i did not know the track had someone else running it, so i watched, there were only a few test & tune cars there, and i saw that white trans-am there again, he went 9.42@146, the second time out he did a wheel stand all the way down to the concession stand, people in the whole entire grandstands went nuts, yelling, cheering, and not one person was sitting, they were standing, and he coasted to a 14.43. that car inpresses me,and my friend was speechless,we went to talk to him, and there were about 30 people at his trailer,i did talk to him and i asked him what it was like when the car does that,he said not good, you have no clue where you are headed, and if it doesn't come down, it hurts, money wise,he's very interesting too. he must know alot about building cars, i wish i could build something like that, maybe one day.i'm going this sunday, he's going to be there he said. helping friends testing there motors that he built.and testing his car too.

Grandson?! You dont look old enough to have your own kids.. let alone have ones with their own! Wow, good luck with that.

I'll definitely let you know if I need a hand. Hopefully everything will fit where its supposed to and run like it should. The last motor we broke in on the dyno, this one will be broken in on the track. Hopefully it will be kind to me.

It REALLY varies a lot. We have some Sundays where you can go around and around, especially towards the beginning and end of the day and end up wtih 8 or 9 runs or more. Then theres Sundays like last week (which was on top of a rental that ALWAYS gets a big crowd) where we told people off the bat it was limited test and tune. I think people got 3 runs in if they were there all day.

Usually if you get there when gates open (11) and stay the whole time (12-5) you can get at least 5 or 6 runs in. A lot of times you can get more if your car doesn't need much between runs.
