Borla Exhaust question

I have the adjustable borla exhaust on my car and I was wondering if any of you have ever heard it without any of the resitrictor plates on? I'm at school now and I dont have access to a set of wrenches or else I would just try it out. Does it sound good? bad? Too loud?

Loud as hell. it'll set off a car alarm if you're close enough. the cops may not like it, but it's a lot of fun.

oh, and someone should move this to the "engine/drivetrain" forum.

can you define "loud as hell" compared to other exhausts?

have you ever heard Loud Mouth 2?

EDIT:

sorry - second post ever to these forums - didn't see that section

it will be louder than both the LM1 and the LM2...if you still have a cat go for it...essentially it'll sound like you're running straight pipes out the back of the cat...a sound that i love dearly

i think Nlinnear has that catback...but i think his has plugs that go in the right side tailpipe to make the exhaust go through the muffler? does that sound right? his is pretty loud, and with that 395 stroker with the big cam it sounds damn mean.

those are rubber pool plugs he puts in as a quicka nd easy way to quiet the exhaust...the actual plates need tools to be changed

actually now that i think about it i would do just like mike(nlinnear)...run an open plate with rubber pool stoppers in the right side tip when you want to be quiet...want to be loud? remove the plugs

its quite quiet imo with the stock manifolds/cats/ypipe with no plate installed...i ran it like that for ~6 months...then installed my headers...still thought it wasnt too bad...it wasnt until after i put in my cam/heads that it became what id consider loud. I say go for it...even with headers w/no cats it wont be too bad.

I had the Borla installed without any plate. About 75% of the exhaust goes through the pass. side. If you go to a swimming pool supply place, get 2 #11(that is the size) swimming pool drain plugs. Stick them in the pass. side tips and all the exhaust will be forced through the muffler. I'll get a pic of it later for you.
