we? when did you make the line up?
the yankees got a few bad calls tonight, but they blew opportunities in previous games on their own.
now that baseball season is over for me i am glad to say the steelers are winning right now. despite an even worse call than the yankees got.

Yanks played like a bunch of amateurs last night and we deserved to lose. Between Sheff and Bubba kissing in the outfield, Sheff not catching that ball, Giambi making a dumbass play to home, and Torre leaving Moose in way too long, there was no way we were going to win. Maybe next year we can actually get some starting pitchers.

[story][analysis] yes they deserved to lose, the missplay in the outfield was because the place was so ****in loud that they couldnt hear each other and communicate, **** happens even though thats the play that broke the game open. giambi didnt make a dumb decision on that fielding play, did you really expect him to come full speed to a stop turn around and hit cano at first for an out? the run would have still scored and he was just trying to cut the run off at home, which was the RIGHT decision.
there is no way that you can say that mussina was left in too long... name one solid hit that they had off him, in addition randy johnson was lights out and held the angels for the rest of the game along w/ gordon in the 8th... end of story w/ pitching
hitting is a different story, the middle of the yankees lineup 2,4,5 (arod, sheff, matsu) were a combined 13-56 in the series w/ 3RBI hardly an effort worth commending, especially when they have to produce to win
and the defense in the series let up way too many runs on errors. even though the errors hurt the yankees, it wad the angels' ability to convert the yankee errors into runs that put the yankees down and out, initially, what i have to say about the series is that the angles out played the yankees and the team that should have won prevailed
the yankees for next season i see are in need of a revamped starting rotation where they have to let their youth develop into good starting pitchers (small, chacon, wang) and they have to go after good young pitchers (if i were cashman id get the rookie from the seattle mariners, rodriguez i think... dude is ****ing filthy and hes 20) They need another outfielder, obviously the yankees were hurt by the hole in the lineup that bubba or bernie created, they need to pick up an outfielder with experience who can cover ground and put some numbers up (manny and damon are both possibilities, even though rumor has it manny is going to the mets)
finally, its a shame that the yanks are done, but the ex-yanks are still playing (contreras, el duque, pettite, clemens) hopefully we get to see them face off in the seiries.
6 months until opening day... whos commin with me?[/ story][/ analysis]

for the most part, the penalties have been actually worth calling...i think it's good that the refs are calling more hooks and interferences...ive seen so many instance where hooks were so blatant and were never called...plus since there is no more 2 line passes, you got to compensate somewhere else....plus: more PPs=more goals=more excitement for fans=profit

Yea, the place was loud, but you have to pay attention to your suroundings. Netither of them did so they ran into each other. You always go for the sure out on an infield ground ball. Giambi went for a non force out to home after the runner had a nice lead, then took off on contact. Giambi had no hope of throwing out the runner at home, instead, he gave up a run and zero outs. He was close enough to first to either run back to the bag, or tag the runner as he passed by.
Moose had a decent first, that's it. From the moment he came in in the second he was way off. One solid hit would be the home run.
I hope Cashman gives us something other than injuries for pitchers next year. It's been a rough two seasons. I say bring back Leiber. Moose, Leiber, Small, Chacon, Wang, and Johnson. Have six starters cuz at least one will be injured at any one point in time. We had a good center fielder, Lofton. Oops. We need to change things around, a lot. We get a lot of players, but sit them all down. Bellhorn (yea he sux anyway), Womack, Martinez, etc.
Oh well, we'll see.

noise or no noise, you can see the ball and where you want to throw it. leaving moose in wasn't unheard of, he has started games rough and cleaned it up plenty of times.
what i think is missing is the NEED to win. the yanks are so used to winning that they want and expect it to happen. then the sox last year and the angels this year roll into town with the talent to win and the mental need to follow through with it.
i don't know how you inspire millionares. i hope big george can figure it out during the off season.
one player for the angels that i really like is that kid figgins. what a talent. infield, outfield, at teh plate. clutch player all around.

i think they said he lead the league per appearance. he has been a platoon player all year. if they can find him a starting role it would really help him.
in the yanks series alone he played third base, center field, left field, and pinch hit. i wonder if he can pitch? lol

Well you really cant blame Cano. Hes a rookie and obviously will have alot more errors than the veterans. I blame Crosby on that collision just cuz hes a ****ing idiot. After I saw that, I turned the game off and knew that it the yanks will lose. So i turn it back on when cano just got up on the plate, and ran outside the line to first base. I would do the same to avoid being beaned by a fastball. I turned it off for good knowing yanks would not come back.
As for next season, Brown is GONE (THANK YOU) cuz he absolutely sucked at pitching. They need better closers, cuz Sturze sucks and you cant use Gordon/Rivera every ****ing game to close it out. And Id say until Mussina straightens his act up, use him as a closer. Small is brilliant at pitching, and Chacon earned a good rep with the yanks. Get rid of Wright and get some good pitchers and your set for the bullpen. BTW, Leiter blows!
I really think they should hold most of the ppl on the team with the exception of Crosby and Bernie obviously. Bubba just sucks and just looks like a complete noob on the field. Womack has never hit a HR in his career but damn he can run, so use him as a pitch runner, cuz hes just damn quick. They should definately use ONLY Posada as a catcher and tell the Dick-Unit to suck it up and throw the damn ball to him. A special catcher like Flahterry is just a waste of Posadas good clutch hitting. I hear Damon is in the works to cover Center Field, but I cant tell rumors from facts apart. Looks like next season could be a tad better.

i woudl liek to see the yanks look for a few pitching prospects. this grandpa pitcher crap is not consistant enough.
face it, people struggle as rookies and towards the end of their careers as tiem wears on their body. get rid of the social security rotation and get a pitcher who is only a year or two out of college. let htem grow through teh organization like the most of the line up have.
