just cancelled my nextel...

anyone else have/had nextel? Ever since they merged(or whatever) with Sprint, the service and reception seems to have went downhill. Here in northern NJ, pretty near to NYC, my friends and I have crap for signal most of the time. My friends called since august to have it taken car of of nextel hasnt made good on anything they said so far. Today i finally had enough. My cell has been dead for the past 3 weeks so i figured what the hell am i paying for, i just got the phone in late july so if i cancelled now id have to pay a $200 fee, but hell, why would i pay 60 a month till july just to cancel it fee free. So i called up and told them it was junk, lol. They tried telling me well we can have the reception problem checked out and fixed. I said no and to just turn off my phone. Itll be shut off on Dec 25th at the end of my billing cycle(i guess my xmas present) All this time i've still had my At&T cell which get full service everywhere. I kept that when i got my nextel just in case and i'm glad i did. When AT&T wireless was taken over by cingular service became excellent. And i pay 29.99 for the same minutes and extras nextel was costing me 59.99. Only problem is that if i want a new AT&T phone, i have to sign a new contract with cingular and pay more. at least i have a back up old AT&T phone that works after this current one dies. oh well cell phones all suck sometimes...now later today i gotta cancel my one home phone line and long distance and just keep one home line for my computer.

Nextel has always been big in Jersey, and from what I have heard they suck just about everywhere else.

I personally suggest Verizon. I cant even think of one place where I DON'T get reception. I have never had a problem (with newer phones).

But just for comparison, Cingular & Verzion are the top two in new jersey for service.

I HAVE NEXTEL... I HATE IT WITH A PASSION, MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE. I WENT TO FOUR PLACES, EACH PLACE SAID THAT MY PHONE WAS ABUSED AND RAN OVER BY A CAR, BS. so i called up, filed like three complaints ,and finally got a replacement phone, which when i got it, its all scratched up and they refuse to claim responsibility. and yes, i RARELY ever get good service and i always get cut off when in coversations.

I dont know how Nextel is still in business... their sevice is the WORST I have ever seen. Ive had em all with the exception to nextel (because Ive seen how terrible the service is) and Verizon is by far the best hands down.

i had nextel. 60 bucks a month was way too much, i got on a family plan with verizon. 10 bucks a month i now have a better phone, better reception, smaller, nicer looking, and am saving 50 bucks a month.

i got nextel, nothing but good things to say, always have service. i had nothing but problems with Verizon though.

i know the service for cingular kicks ass in north jersey, but back home i get ****** service, but thats cuz theres not a tower close to me in vineland

so far nextel doesnt compare with my verizon. i dont want to sound like it was nothing but trouble, cause i would still have it if it werent for the price. my new phone is alot nicer though and alot cheaper.

got verizon, got service everywhere. my friends have nextel just for the walkie-talkie feature otherwise they dont use it cuz there is zip for service around here.

I have SPRINT....ever since the merge...it sucks!! the only untouched thing is my service...but my calls arent going through correctly..text messages i send ppl dont get or get like hours after and ppl who send them to me i never get....as of the dec 20th (when my plan is up thankfully) ill be switching to Verizon...makes more sense since everyone in my family plus all my friends have it.

I've had Cellular One (old school Cingular), AT&T, and Verizon. Verizon has been the best everywhere that I have used it (all over central jersey, at my grandparent's in Newton, NJ, and out at school 1hr north of Pittsburgh).

the only phone that works in sussex (newton) is verizon. i had at&t, t-mobile and none got reseption here....

I think Verizon is trying to put up a cell phone tower on my uncle's farm there. His is the one that is just a few minutes north of Skylands Park, on the left side of the road. It's right before Beemer Church Road/Roy Road if you are familiar with that area.

verizon here...was gonna switch over to cingular or tmobile because my current lg phone sucks balls, but found out i save 15% since i work for the state so when my contract expired last week I ordered a new phone & something other then a grandfathered contract so im a happier camper now, again.
