Ordered my lift today.

Well everyone the time has come to lift my silverado. Today I ordered the Superlift 5-6" FIT kit with rear springs and bilsteins. I also ordered ford torsion bar keys for an additional 2" of lift. I'm going with 315/70/17 BFG AT's, precision 4.10 gears, and a superchips programmer. The only thing i have yet to buy are the 17x9 Chrome Moto Metal 951 wheels that I will be ordering as soon as I get a price from my local shop. I will post pictures as soon as I get it up.

thanks hopefully they'll be up soon enough. BTW it's gonna be a pavement princess though. TOO much money in it for it to be a trail truck.

ok, cuz the one shop i called was helpful at first but wanted to sell me a generic/left over radius arm drop bracket. but i need a skyjacker one sinc ei have the 8" front kit and no one else makes the 8 inch kit, and when i said that, he commented "in my 27 years of off-roading, i would never lift a 1/2 ton truck 8", the tires could never hold that"....i was like um ok, bye. I was thinking what does lift have to do with tires not holding..i never even said what tires i planned or running, i know the axles arent as strong but geez, just make a sale. besides the truck will be driven very rarely, like maybe 3 or 4 times a month. my plans are the 8" front kit and the 6" pro comp full springs in the rear since the fords always sit low in front with the 8"/6" itll be almost even. and i plan on running 37"-40" tires.

im way up in bergen co, small town of closter, if i drive south 10 min i am at the george washington bridge, if i dirve north 5 min i'm in NY state.

I plan on using my bronco as a toy, not a daily driver, and whenever i get time, id tow it out to paragon and beat the hell out of it.

if you can get to the outterbridge crossing, Road Runners isn't that far.

here's a link to his website:
http://www.roadrunnersperformance.com/

give him a call. like i said, he's good at getting individual pieces and not trying to push you into BS you don't need.

i wasnt worried about the 8" on a 1/2 ton, skyjacker is a greta company, why would they make the kit if it wasnt safe.

i got the pair of Pro-comp rear springs used, but never driven on for $200,
used skyjacker front lift, also installed but never driven on for $53(ebay is great), came with new SS extended brake lines, sway bar drop brakcets, pitman arm, stabalizer bar and is just missing the coil springs and 1 radius arm bracket. So now i just need 8" front coil springs...$230, (6) shocks, and tires

One known problem with the bronco and fords in late 80s-mid 90s were the transmissions. but i dont have the stock unit anymore, i have a C6 which is one of the strongest ford trannys and itll be behind a rebuilt '84 351w. I know the 8.8 rear axle isnt bullet proof but i dont plan of launching it over rough terrain everyday, and if it breaks, ill replace it with a 9". I had an 82 bronco with a 6" lift and 40's and that was fun, but with a motor knock and body rot i sold it while i could.

only trhing i'd worry about on your is the tie rods and ball joints. i usually have to do mine every year or so. they even suck with the stock tires, the bigger ones just tend to wear'em out a little quicker.

yeah changing them every once in a while isnt a big deal. The whole legal issue is the only thing id have to deal with, like the stability test but it hink it would pass, either way if i got pulled over, its not like id get a ticket, i love knowing cops and also dating a cops daughter. lol. This is my old 82 bronco, and my '95 which im building now.

nice looking collection

the stability test isn't anything to worry about. i passed it with flying colors (well, that was when the truck only had 33s )

if you can, take it at the test center in Morristown. the guys up there are better than most DMV workers. they actually take the time to go into detail about what you fail for if you ask.

the station down in Asbury sucks!!!!!! heard too much bad **** about that place to ever go there.

Hey keep a close eye on your front end pieces with all that lift especially with the Ford torsion bar keys. I run a 4" suspension lift in front with Ford keys that give me another 1.5" and I have 5.5 blocks in the rear. My front shafts are just about at their limit for binding up and I've been eating up tie rods pretty quickly. My truck is a 97 K1500 and I'm running 35's.

BTW yea thats my worry is the CV angle. With just the lift i can leave them flat and be even front and rear. I'm going to crank the ford keys only about half way and if it's too much i'll take them back down. There is another guy that did it and he says his angles aren't that bad......we'll see though.

Depends...you have to check that at full drop, not at ride height. Mine are acceptable at ride height but when I jack it up the passenger side binds up and won't turn. If I ever go offroading I'll have a problem at full articulation. The Ford keys are a pain to install too....dangerous because the indexing and preload puts a lot of stress on the torsion bar before you can even get the bolt back into it.....use a couple c-clamps as backup if you can.
